There was a delightful documentary about a decade ago about how the Nintendo Power Glove was basically made of old beta tech that NASA was done with, and got pushed out to market CRAZY FAST because the team at Mattel running a really early demo set it up to run with "Punch-Out"...

...because, duh - boxing game, most obvious 1-1 concept - and the CEO picked it up to play around at the meeting like "LOL my kids have this, I can't figure it out" and BY SOME MIRACLE flipped her wrist to "punch" in the EXACT RIGHT WAY that activated the one-shot kill on Glass Joe...

I mean, that WOULD be the after effect of some kind of "American Maoism"/"Great Leap Forward," but you actually have to SPEND for that and these dumb ghouls are just posturing against their culture-war enemies at this point. There isn't an infrastructure to do this, and they ain't building it 🤷♂️

"Encourage more Americans to learn skills trades" is ACTUALLY good advice - it's what I tell young people going into creative/tech fields when they ask me for advice ("Get the degree you need/want, also learn something that will pay bills and you can use") - but REAL federal investment...

Like, I can fix A LOT of my own car, I can plant a garden, do a lot of basic home repair, minor electrical/plumbing, etc - but I REALLY regret not learning one full mechanic/skills trade in school that I could've done pro when things were lean and I had more strength for it 🤷♂️

The one decent side effect of finding out the future isn't what the good guys promised is finding out that it isn't (always) what the bad guys promised, either.
I'm old enough to remember when every city was going to be recalibrated for SEGWAYS, and when VIRTUAL REALITY was our future.
