Oh absolutely! I would prefer to enjoy it as a hobby and not in a factory 18 hours a day! :D

From my amateur six years experience, a garment on the level of a modern blazer or man’s sport coat takes me 80 hours of work to make by hand (and maybe the machine for long seams). Would be interested to hear anyone else’s numbers to put the work involved into context.

Same, and to private equity no less. A real shame.

I tailor and sew and it’s time consuming. The only way to make a living at it on a per hour rate basis is to get faster. Otherwise you’re billing $5 an hour just to get a piece down to any reasonably price. People don’t realize what work costs.

Followed! I tailor 16th century clothing by hand, fiber friend! Just getting into easier projects like modern clothing.

PSA to business owners:
Don't just pass on the tariff cost to your consumers quietly.
Add a line on the bill and explicitly label it "Trump Tariff." Show people *why* it is costing more.

Yeah I thought about this too, like maybe he wants to shock the system into Americans buying American-made goods. But there’s that pay issue unless he also plans to ginormify the chasm between rich and poor so Americans are making foreign sweatshop pay?
