when i was 21 i tried to get HRT through a clinic and they declined for very nebulous/questionable reasons (they basically decided i wasn't 'psychologically ready'). started DIYing after that until i could find a reliable doctor who wasn't going to play gatekeeper. one of the best things i ever did.
