My first one is maybe a day or two older than yours - I both look forward to the harvest ... and dread it a bit. I'm down to just one plant per year, but it still produces more than we can handle. I usually freeze enough for the rest of the year. ๐Ÿ˜…

Pretty sure "News" isn't a good choice either ๐Ÿ˜… Maybe it's an app for folks who are on the right end of the political spectrum?

Me too, fresh peas are great!

Yes, that store is more expensive than others. But everything is organic and I love their customer service. They have gardeners to answer gardening questions and they have enough time to write personal messages.

That's the spirit! Good luck. ๐Ÿ€ I try to grow as many different things that I like just to increase the chances that something works out in the end. Losses are easier to forget when you're busy preserving an unexpected bumper crop of something else. ๐Ÿ˜…

Oh, and to be clear - I really only meant direct social settings. One-on-one or small group conversations. Certainly not conferences, courses and the like!

A co-worker always starts with "hi". Then we do the "how are you" dance after which he finally either asks his question or says he only wanted to say hi. ๐Ÿ˜…

You can't know it might be an accomodation unless you heard about it first, especially when you've been phubbed enough times before. Thank you for sharing this. I'll certainly keep this in mind in the future. :)

And certainly not after someone has mentioned that their brain works a bit differently. I only mean in a social group without any explanation. When I give a talk, I ask for silence, but I don't care if someone is on their phone or not. Typing sounds in a small audience drive me nuts, though. ๐Ÿ˜‚
comment in response to post
I feel like it makes a difference what people are doing. Drawing/writing on paper or crocheting/knitting/etc. keep your hands busy, but the "brain" still feels "available" to the observer. Phones usually fully absorb neurotypicals, so that does feel a bit rude to me. ๐Ÿค” Not at a conference, though.

Non-native speaker here - "may she rip" would've certainly taken me a second to get. ๐Ÿ˜… I like the meaning of the phrase, but not the abbreviation. Even without the religious connotation: Resting in peace sounds lovely after a terminal illness, fatal accident, or simply a long, perhaps hard life.

If stainless steel really was a problem, our (independent) German consumer watchdog org should've picked up on it by now. It's the most popular material for pots in Germany and they always test for a number of toxic substances.
comment in response to post
I think the nickel in stainless steel is probably fine unless you're allergic, isn't it? I'm not an expert, of course. We'll never be able to avoid all traces of everything and these PFAS etc. seem worse to me.

I make jam (only straining the skins and seeds, keeping the pulp) and my husband uses them when he makes smoothies. I'll have some fresh with sugar, too.

Wished we could share excess sun and rain! Never thought I'd get too much sun in Germany in my lifetime, but here we are. (After a very wet 2024.)

Gourds are for decoration, right? Just to remind folks that cross-pollinated pumpkins and their family members can be toxic when eaten. As a friend of mine learned the hard way (hospital visit) last year, even non-bitter volunteers can be toxic. The one she had only "felt" weird in the mouth. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

They do need a bit of cold, though. My seed packets were misleading in that respect. If you sow them in the fall, you can enjoy them even earlier. :)

๐Ÿคฃ I always loved our family tradition of having cake for breakfast whenever it was someone's birthday (so about five times per year for everyone).

Hope you'll feel better soon. ๐Ÿ€ It's weird how different your teeth feel even when there's only a small change, isn't it? (Even worse when it's a bigger change, of course.)

Took me second to understand what you meant by that abbreviation, haha. At least I hope you meant Bluesky and not Bullsh*t ๐Ÿ˜…

I misread crow as cow at first and that made a very funny mental "image" (I can't actually picture anything, but still). ๐Ÿคฃ I love to watch them when they're trying to break (into) something.

When I first visited the US, I was ten. We visited my uncle and his family who lived in a nice suburb in NJ. We were told that we kids could not walk around in that neighborhood (like we would in Germany) or we might risk getting shot at/killed. I still remember the utter confusion I felt.

It probably depends on the scale - I only make a few glasses at a time. I use a spoon to press the boiled (thus very soft) berries through a sieve. It does take some time, but it's not hard work as such.

We use them for jam (mostly straining the seeds, but keeping the pulp) and in smoothies. I also like them mixed with black currants and quite a bit of sugar, but they are rather sour, even when fully ripe.

Reminds me of a software in which the date format changes between DE and US between screens. Not confusing at all when you select 02/06/25, close the date picker, and the date "changes" to 06/02/25. ๐Ÿคช

Probably not. We're thinking about giving feedback, though. Perhaps the manager is unaware of what his men are doing.

This was supposed to be a treat. I don't enjoy garden design and I wanted to have less work with the ornamentals so that I could spend more time on the veggies. Now I have to worry about horsetail. ๐Ÿ˜ญ The footpath and lawn strips look nice btw. (We had to keep a fake driveway.)

- forgot to put dirt into the holes after adding the plants. They simply put mulch on top. By the time I figured this out, several plants were almost dead even though we had watered them.
