The player character is more generic, but customizable. I'm fond of the title idea in particular. In 2nd-person narration, you're not going to see your own pronouns much. But maybe you prefer horse over pony, maybe you're a she/her stallion, or maybe you're more of a donkey.

A little while ago I added these rough sketches to the first ending scene of Mesmer. The challenge of having a blank slate PC makes adding art to every scene of a game kind of a daunting task. Though i know that's what people really want.
