being obsessed with IQ is a good sign that you have nothing in your life to give you actual meaning. (also a good sign you have bell curve-esque beliefs about human equality)

How is this even a headline -- nobody elected him. He hasn't been appointed. He has no power.

How many child cancer researchers did they fire to pay for this?

A big part of why we're in this mess is that Democrats are weak and hapless. They aren't willing to fight for -- or even uphold -- the values they say they believe in. The other reason is that most people are dumb as shit and submerged in constant algorithmic propaganda

This is interesting because the question is less what they will do as *legislators* and more what they will do as *politicians*. AOC is a member of the House minority, but she’s doing a lot of politics about all of this anyway.

Democrats can’t sustain this kind of rhetoric without action. At the federal level they need to hold a 24-7 vigil at the Capitol until the coup ends. At the state level they could seize federal assets until court orders are being followed. We’re already outside the regular constitutional order.

Trump is pushing the policies he promised. He is not doing the things for which he gave no actual policy content for (e.g., lowering prices). It speaks to the lack of civic education and media literacy in this country that people were convinced otherwise.

one of the really fundamental unspoken US ideas for a long time was that men above a certain social level should never face consequences. this bought us Trump 2 in two ways, both in the failure to punish him and in the rage about MeToo breaking this rule

Incredible journalism.

Tapping the sign

The fun thing about America having centuries of unbroken institutional legitimacy is that the President can publicly say "I am doing a coup, illegally, in order to break the law for my own benefit" and 95% of people on both sides will say, "Oh no, he's not, that'd be crazy."

Boosting this and also sharing our earlier piece on this. DOGE is TRYING to shield itself from FOIA but courts will decide if it can actually do that. Lawsuits already being filed: www.404media.co/doge-employe...

98% of NIH grants that should have gone out this month, didn't. Despite court orders 'unfreezing' the funds, they are frozen. Biomedical research will grind to a halt. Clinical trials will end. All for no reason: the total impact on the US budget is miniscule

Musk's company has been awarded a $400 million government contract for "armored Tesla." This is what the tech oligarchy looks like. www.dropsitenews.com/p/elon-musk-...

Okay what is going on here. Are the accounts at a private banking entity? Does the federal government have direct debit permission set up? So many questions as to how Treasury instructed this payment. (Via NY Post’s Craig McCarthy)

Schumer's strategy of allowing/encouraging Dems to vote for the "normal" nominees in order to try and peel off Republican defections to block Hegseth/RFK/Gabbard appears to have completely failed.

The list has around 30 people. I remain confused how so few unqualified dipshits can take over multiple government agencies and offices without anyone just saying nah and closing the door in their face.

I'd rather continue to fund the banking police (who have returned billions to consumers) rather than giving everyone a check for $2.15

there is such a pathological fear among dem electeds of backlash that it leads them to basically do nothing

my view is that as soon as the administration froze disbursement of congressional appropriations we entered constitutional crisis territory

Elon Musk is calling for the CFPB's remaining account balance of $711,586,678 to be returned to the American taxpayers. That you give everyone $2-$3. But returning Elon Musk’s money to taxpayers would give everyone about $1,300 each.

Hate being right about this! They will ignore all the court orders until judges start jailing them

Scoop: DOGE's Edward "Big Balls" Coristine launched a privacy-focused image-sharing site in 2021 that allowed users to create custom URLs. The URLs that redirected to Coristine's site referenced the sale of child sexual abuse material, racial slurs, and rape www.muskwatch.com/p/doge-teen-...

The smartest tech right guy is dumber than all of those boomer accounts that just posts memes about how cool libraries are.

Note, this only applies to institutions in AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, MA, ME, MD, NV, NJ, NM, NY, NC, OR, RI, VT, WA, and WI - because the injunction applies only "within Plaintiff States" Institutions in states with red governors/AGs - Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, etc. - remain screwed
