Very excited for this one @moudhy.bsky.social 🌹

Science is brilliant.

Pretty sad. Just got the email that CZI is canceling the second round of Diversity Leadership Awards. Private industry will definitely not fill the hole that NIH and NSF are leaving. 😢💔

This commission statement refers to people with Autism, ADHD, asthma, auto-immune disease, and chronic illness as a “dire threat to the American people and our way of life”. This is a manifesto against disability. This is the language of eugenics.

Proud to be one of the 350 rabbis signing this statement — an ad in the NYT today and a declaration of our values. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... For more—and to sign— go to saynotoethniccleansing.org

Viewing people's profile on LinkedIN stresses me out. Can't I just see what they've been up to without LinkedIN snitching.

Welcome to the Bluesky account for Stand Up for Science 2025! Keep an eye on this space for updates, event information, and ways to get involved. We can't wait to see everyone #standupforscience2025 on March 7th, both in DC and locations nationwide! #scienceforall #sciencenotsilence

“Don't be evil”? This phrase was a key part of Google's corporate code of conduct, symbolising its commitment to ethical and transparent business practices. And, in 2015, the tech giant replaced it with “Do the right thing.”

In today's academic life hack, I reduced an abstract count by the needed 5 characters by simply changing British English words to American English.

Excited to share that as of March, I’ll be joining the Department of Psychology at the University of Oslo as a Researcher! 😊🧠

damn, where'd the first 10 days of February go

And as an academic I'll be offended if conferences do not boycott entirely.

“The silence is the loudest sound I’ve ever heard. My heart breaks every time I sing to the empty cradle.”

"Anyone who has studied science under the Nazis...cannot fail to be dismayed and alarmed at the parallels in the response so far of scientific institutions and academies to the purges and abuses of power following Trump’s executive orders" 🧪 #scicomm www.chemistryworld.com/opinion/scie...

Maybe Big Brother was onto something with Newspeak.

Federal restrictions & funding freezes threaten vital research and halts scientific progress that benefits all Americans. Join fellow #NeuroAdvocates in urging Congress to protect congressionally approved funding & ensure uninterrupted support for the scientific workforce. 👇 #NeuroSky

You should always be worried when a government strategically does 3-5 (intentionally) crazy things per day, knowing the media cannot communicate all effectively to the public. It's a scary thing to have a democracy use tactics designed to govern with least resistance from its electorate.

And that Trump-Netanyahu conference revealing plans to ethnically cleanse and displace Palestinians so that they can build a Riviera in place of Gaza is exactly what my fellow stupid Arabs in Michigan voted for when they thought Trump would help Palestine more than Harris.

My next grant: Our project seeks to dismantle barriers that hinder BIPOC, particularly Black and Latinx communities, by fostering an environment of activism and advocacy. By addressing biased systems and practices, we aim to promote diversity and inclusivity within cultural frameworks.

Science is political. It wouldn't necessarily have to be partisan. But when one party is opposed to science-based policy, scientists have a choice between saying "you're right, thoughts and prayers are probably as effective as reducing carbon emissions" or saying "fuck that."

Facebook deleted in 2019. X and Instagram deleted last year. Signal downloaded last week.

Stay humble.

Season 2 of Trump's America sucks.

So if I’m understanding today correctly, the world’s richest person Elon Musk, whom no one elected, is taking over federal payment systems and employee data while the federal employees who investigate and prosecute public corruption are being fired en masse.

NEW: Sources tell my office that Treasury Secretary Bessent has granted DOGE *full* access to this system. Social Security and Medicare benefits, grants, payments to government contractors, including those that compete directly with Musk's own companies. All of it.

Media purges have begun — you read that Reich Holy hell

The entire archive of CDC datasets can be found here. HUGE shoutout to data archivists- this work is important 👏🙌🏻 archive.org/details/2025...

It's so ridiculous that it's almost unbelievable that it's not some experiment where they've put a baboon in the highest office just to simulate how much bad shit they can do to fuck the country up.

Another attack on health care.

This is not good.

DeepSeek doesn't recognise Tiananmen Square or Uyghur Muslims, ChatGPT/OpenAI doesn't recognise Palestinian freedom from apartheid and are in bed with Trump. AI has to be regulated.

DeepSeek isn't the only AI you should be worried about when it comes to censorship ...

So excited to see this in print! A manifesto paving the way for responsible generalisation and co-authorship practices in open science - with an incredible team of scholars! Very much inspired by the benchmark Munafò et al. manifesto for reproducible science www.nature.com/articles/s44...
