Quite an exchange here between Judge Reyes and DOJ attorney on how "pronoun usage" affects military readiness.

Trump does not respect bootlickers like Nigel Farage . Standing up to Trump is the only way to make a deal with him.

Engraving on the exterior of the United States Department of Justice headquarters.

This is fascism.

To the right-wing pundits crowing over Vance's speech: if you are really "less worried" about a dictator-state that's invaded its neighbour, killed tens of thousands of people, reduced cities to rubble & engaged in mass rape and child abduction, than you are about "wokery", then you are truly lost.

What Europe would have looked like if we had frozen the borders 3 years into WW2 because we just needed to stop the fighting.

Completely. Fucking. Nuts. And it’s going to backfire, big time.

HuffPost UK: Reform UK's Richard Tice Torn Apart By Presenter Over Trump's Approach To Ukraine www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/richar...

George Monbiot nails it.

Brilliantly put by @georgemonbiot.bsky.social

It should be crystal clear by now that Trump cannot be trusted... with anything. Starmer should stop trying to be all things to all people - which only achieves being nothing to anyone. Instead, he should rush to bring us closer to the EU, the only trade and defence partners we can still rely on.

If Ukraine is forced to surrender its sovereign territory to Russia, it will be the greatest betrayal of a European ally since Poland in 1945. The UK must lead in Europe in defence of Ukraine. We cannot stand back and watch as Zelensky is bullied by Trump.

Military historian Sir Antony Beevor on Times Radio on Trump-Putin: "We should always distrust historical parallels, especially those from WW2...but there is a really very frightening echo of the betrayal of Czechoslovakia in 1938 and the idea that one can deal over the heads of a suffering nation"

Which is more frustrating? 1) A terrible experience in a restaurant you heard bad things about. 2) A terrible experience in a restaurant you heard good things about. (I think that's why Labour contrive to wind me up even more than the Tories. There was a world in which they were better. But no.)

Reform are fucking morons. It's the job of the other parties to point this out relentlessly.

‘Maybe we have to look at the judges’ 😳

As Labour lurches further to the right the main beneficiary is Reform. Labour is ‘validating’ the right wing bullshit rather than challenging it.

I have no doubt that Trump/Musk tariffs will fail, and equally, I have absolute faith that when they do, it will be everybody else's fault.

Dear Mexico, Canada, Panama, and Europe: 100 percent tariffs on Tesla.

There hasn't actually been a serious border security problem between Canada and the US. Wanna know a good way to create one? Create incentives in the tens of billions of dollars for successful smuggling operations.

When you are doing media early on a Sunday morning and your son comes in from a night shift with a McDonald's breakfast for you. First steps, exam results, first jobs all made me proud but really felt this morning I'd nailed raising a good human.

“Elon Musk said the British Gov’t, elected by the British people just a few months ago, should be overthrown..Elon Musk has to be held to account” Sir Ed Davey 👏

Good Morning! Buenos Dias!

To all those countries (looking at you, UK) staring in disbelief at the USA and thinking 'it couldn't happen here', think harder.

from today's post — go read the whole thing. link is here: bit.ly/4h7i06Z

Well said, Pete Buttigieg

Because they are evil, we must stand up to them. But because they are also stupid, we needn’t be afraid to.

Thanks to George Conway for posting Caroline Kennedy's letter so everyone is informed about RFK Jr. Please repost far and wide.

“Move closer to Europe – not Trump” Huge UK poll shows Brits overwhelmingly want Starmer to prioritise trade with EU not US. Even in Farage’s constituency! Excellent work by @bestforbritain.bsky.social & @pimlicat.bsky.social. 👏👏👏

I was writing about deterrence today and remembered my favourite way of explaining it

Things that can limit the worst outcomes of Trump; his lack of focus; his lack of sustained genuine interest; incompetence of his subordinates; disunity of his subordinates who want different and inconsistent things; electoral reality of the midterms; senility, ill health, being a lame duck.

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.” Diary of Anne Frank January 13, 1943

I confess that I'm not entirely convinced by the camouflage. www.express.co.uk/news/uk/2004...

I wrote this on one of the darkest days of my life. It gave me an anchor to hold onto.

To stop Farage following Trumps footsteps into power we need to confront Reform Ltd's lies wherever we find them. My letter in the Yorkshire Post. www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/opinion...

Looks like Labour's next big opportunity to disappoint is already limbering up. It's hard to see them letting a trade deal with the US slip over a piffling hiccup like leaving the NHS to be pilfered by US companies. Once it's gone, it's gone for good.

First they came for the immigrants, and I spoke out, because I’ve read the damn poem before and I know how it ends.

Why is the government happy to cosy up to China, but won't even look at a better customs deal with our closest neighbours in Europe? Ministers say they’re looking everywhere for growth but are ignoring what is staring them in the face.

Gonna say it was autism when I karate chop a Nazi.

Teslas are "Swasticars"

i’m so tired but i’ve got obligations 😩

I couldn’t agree more with this. This is an opportunity that comes once in a generation.

We should be throwing up lab space in places like Cambridge and Tatton Park at a vast rate. Biggest opportunity to recruit scientific talent since the 1930s.

Great point here. Trump is creating a hostile environment for talent that leans liberal. We can't pay as well, but there are not school shootings and we aren't being run by anti science fascists.

The UK needs to reverse Brexit and rebuild the Navy in full. Europe also needs to increase native weapons production and build up their navies and airforces. It’s ridiculous to expect NATO to function properly when one of its key members is captured by Russia and the CCP.

Just take a moment to imagine the reaction to Barack Obama pardoning 1,500 black people, involved in a riot, which led to five police officers dying, calling them "heroes" & "hostages".
