People before profits, people are not property, cities are for people not cars, active transportation is my jam, despises cooking, weekends are for memories not cleaning my house.

The sun is in my eyes... I could just buy and install blinds, or I can use my design thinking and UX tools to solve the problem creatively

I just realized the reason we have Jordan Peterson, Joe Rogan & the whole manosphere movement is b/c they're plugging the cultural hole that Red Green left behind.

More public restrooms are sorely needed www.nytimes.com/2025/01/12/o... via @nytimes.com #NoPlaceToGo

Nothing like Tom Holland in his epic lips sync battle. Always brings a smile to my face.

If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via study that still underestimates climate cost. This isn’t about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice. #citymakingmath

Enjoy your youth as one day you'll be at your happiest after giving the house a good clean.

"It's not fair that our province has more and we shouldn't have to support those that are struggling. Just ask the rapidly growing homeless population that I love to ignore. I also love billiaornaire that throw thousands to support the rest that I ignore." - Scooter

Asthma emergency admissions plunged as lockdown improved air, Oxford study finds. “First study to tally asthma exacerbations with air pollution during pandemic finds numbers admitted to A&E fell 41% in 2020.” Via @theguardian.com www.theguardian.com/environment/...

“It’s not that I am trying to do social engineering around people using bikes, walking & transit. I am trying to undo the 60+ years of social engineering around the complete reliance on the automobile.” — well said @gabeklein.bsky.social. #cardependency

My semi-regular reminder of a really important reality about cities, density, services and taxes. Any questions? Recently cleaned up by @kathrynmathias.bsky.social. #CityMakingMath

Just a reminder that in 2019, RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine misinformation campaign helped cause a measles outbreak in Samoa that killed 83 people, mostly kids. Do you really want him to lead the Department of Health and Human Services?

This is also my bike origin story. I’m cheap AF.

Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users. ALL ROAD USERS. And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them. Via @usa.streetsblog.org @nyc.streetsblog.org

They died because they were women. Today is the 35th anniversary of the Dec. 6, 1989 Polytechnique Massacre. 14 women, most engineering students, were murdered by a misogynist gunman. December 6 is now the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. www.cbc.ca/montreal/fea...

This needs to be said, loud, and often.

Meanwhile in Toronto…..

Happy snow day! #yxe2024 #outsidelife

Nailed it!

Opposing overdose prevention centers/supervised consumption sites does not eliminate or even reduce drug use. It just eliminates or reduces safety. The alternative to safe use is not less drug use, it’s just unsafe drug use. Unsafe consumption sites exist all around you whether you know it or not.

We will be seen and we will be heard. Tonight’s ghost bike delivery to Queen’s Park and the Ford government in Toronto. @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social @lanrickbennett.bsky.social @ffsafestreets.bsky.social @cycletoronto.bsky.social

Ford is an idiot.

Now that I've fled Leon's site for bluer skies, I'm sure I'll be called an #Ex-X, but personally, I'll always consider myself a #TwitterQuitter.

My Christmas cards might come late this year (they always do anyway lol) and I might have to changes my Christmas shopping habits. I am okay with that because I support Canada 🇨🇦 Post.

Canada posts prices are unbeatable. If the whole system was private the businesses that use private shipping would jack up their prices or go out of business. Maybe instead of cutting Canada Post down we should be praising this subsidized service that allows small businesses to succeed.

Great post about why cities don’t need more parking in downtown areas. Regina has ample parking and yet its businesses aren’t thriving. Let’s make cities more pedestrian and cycling friendly. Let’s get people interested in exploring their communities.

Bike infrastructure is good economics on so many levels. People are healthier, the wear on roads is less, decreased parking infrastructure. The list goes on…

Found an old favourite at the store this weekend. Playing board games on our Monday off.

World Remembrance Day for victims of traffic violence: 59 ghost bikes for 59 New Zealand cyclists dead on our roads in the past 5 years. Slower speeds would most certainly have made a difference. 🚲

My 8 year old decided he wanted to go pick up litter in the neighbourhood. I took the dog and joined him on a walk. He was having a blast picking up garbage, while simultaneously muttering how upset he is that people litter🥹, until… He stepped into some tall grass and the dog peed on his leg. 🫤

This needs to be watched by every Canadian.

Apparently despite being in Poilievre’s platform the collapse of Canadian media after being defunded is a “huge hypothetical” to this Conservative pundit. To me it’s a scary probability.

They should ban walking on sidewalks too while they are at it.

Thank god we killed bin Laden. At this point, it feels like Trump might appoint him to lead the national counterterrorism center if not.

Thanksgiving is soon! Want to convince your conservative uncle to be a super based YIMBY like you?? Here’s the conservative YIMBY pitch:
