Grading papers has become so disheartening. Students don't trust themselves to try, and that is indicative of a sick culture.

Locus needs our help. As they kick off their fundraiser to continue supporting SFF news, reviews, and commentary, @tobiogundiran.com offers a personal essay on his own experience with reading Locus while removed from the English-language genre community: reactormag.com/locus-is-the...

The AI jobs crisis is not coming—it's here right now. It just might not look the way many thought it would. www.bloodinthemachine.com/p/the-ai-job...

Some people shouldn't be able to walk the streets without catching a drink to the face.

It's one thing to experience the slow death of a form of media. Interest wanes like everything does. But it is another thing entirely to watch a pillar of media get sold and picked clean by vultures.

Not sure what kind of medium you end up with in the absence of a robust and healthy critical conversation. What are we even doing right now 😮‍💨

It, unfortunately, really is just the dumbest bitches telling each other "exactly."

My most naive take is that it’s weird how many awful people there are and how many things they’re in charge of

It's wild as hell that she was cast in this role for a bit part in Revenge of the Sith, and some 20 years later, she's in the same role delivering one of my favorite performances on TV in the last decade.

Like this? This bangs. This is on some Cronenberg-meets-Tetsuo shit. That's a concept that could go to body horror, slapstick comedy, weird fetishism, etc., and you think you wanna dunk on that? Wild.

I'm gonna just assume that the people who follow this account only do so in order to dunk on this whole stupid concept for an account. Who the hell looks at the publishing landscape against our wasteland of incuriosity and says, "Let's shit on the people out here trying."

When I left the Washington Post in 2023, my colleagues and I were worried AI would hoover up our work and enable "zombies" to churn out stories based on our reporting and writing styles. Today WaPo announced a partnership with OpenAI. And here it is: Zombie Gillian Brockell. I DID NOT WRITE THIS.

I got messages threatening to kill me and my wife when I gave Uncharted 4 a (in hindsight generous) 8/10. Boo hoo. Be less shit.

If you're a reporter in a White House press briefing as the spokesperson for the government asserts flatly that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a member of the MS-13 gang who's guilty of human trafficking and you sit there silently without shouting out "PROVE IT!" I'd like to invite you to go fuck yourself.

Thank God my 2012 outback looks like a damn wagon. This shit sucks.

Arkansas legislature just recently attempted to abolish the state's library board in what has been a sustained effort attacking libraries across the state. When that legislation failed, they introduced a new bill aiming to eliminate the current state board. Let's talk about this recent bullshit. 🧵

I firmly believe that one of the reasons billionaires are allowed to exist is because their wealth is literally too vast to comprehend. They benefit from the fact that we cannot properly conceptualize how much they have.
