Back in the day when shaders only had float types, I had to do similar shenanigans for bit masks and shifts.
Something deeply troubling about having to use 'expensive' float instructions for 'cheap' ands and shift :O

I'm told finishing it is the easy bit! Not my experience with all my other games so far but must be true now surely?

As you said, its all about double/triple/infinity checking! :)
Its one of the advantage of being an old git in this industry we are used to just continuously playing and checking stuff cos that was all there was.
Its all good :)

This year has almost literally been a loop of
Play game find issue
Issue is ignored or marked fixed
Play game find same issue
Say its still broken
Marked fixed or ignored
Play game find same issue
Fix it myself
Get moaned at for fixing it

The Europe should be as powerful deterrent as US or Russia. Just needs the political and economic will power.
We have 2 nuclear nations, with extremely high tech forces, time to bring it all together under one European force, same as US, Russia and China.

Have you tried De-oxite and/or iso-propenal on the contacts?
Cleans off the crud really well, I've used on slots full of mud on some of my retro machines.
