I'm so sorry! Grief makes people do irrational things. He might not have even realized (just grabbed a bunch of things and tossed them) but more likely the dress weighed heavily on his heart in that moment.

I followed up by blocking him. This kind of thing happens on FB if I comment on public posts. Usually just block the user. I find unsolicited DMs creepy as hell and just changed my settings so people can't DM. I took the time to type that response for the sole purpose of posting a PSA.

I did not know it was banned. I read it as a child, got the book from the school book fair. But then... A lot of banned books are on my list of favorites. I agree with you .. this is one people should read.

As the mother of a dyslexic 17 year old who's reading comprehension is mediocre but who's listening comprehension is off the charts? Yes, it does. As an English major who loves to write and craft stories, yes it does.

Yes, I am counting this as 1. It's hard to separate them and say "The Hobbit influenced me more than Return of the King" when I bought the boxed in my jr year of high and read them all dog-eared.
