Celebrating Handel's 340th birthday with this absolute banger. "Handel is the greatest composer who has ever lived." - Ludwig van Beethoven

A wet and windy day in South Wales and I've got a long drive ahead of me. So #A-Haydn-A-Day is appropriately Sturm-und-Drangey (and yes, that is definitely a word) with Symphony 49.

A regular reminder that everyone who admires Donald Trump is a twat. Everyone, no exceptions.

More family stuff plus travelling for me today. Looks like I'm in for lots of storm and stress this coming week, as I catch up with two of Haydn's greatest on #A-Haydn-A-Day.

A vague idea I had today, any thoughts from London concert-goers are appreciated...

Ok this day 42 years ago Sir Adrian Boult died - his musical legacy is outstanding particularly as a champion for music that I adore Elgar, RVW, Parry, Holst, Bliss and so many more

I'm taking #A-Haydn-A-Day break today for a happy family occasion, hopefully free of storm and stress. How apt that this symphony should start with a pause ...

Happy #NewReleaseFriday! Santtu-Matias Rouvali completes his Sibelius cycle, 5 years after starting it with my favourite modern #1. Plus 2-piano Beethoven 9, Tchaikovsky's delectable Suite No. 3 and more on my playlist of symphony & orchestral #NewReleases, updated every Friday ▶️ spoti.fi/400asdn

#A-Haydn-A-Day helps you work, rest & play! Day 93: Symphony No. 3 Happy Friday! Latest scholarship suggests this was Haydn's last symphony for Count Morzin before his new dawn at the Esterházy court. If so he left on a high: the strict-canon minuet and fugal finale are both mini-masterpieces!
