It's good to hear it, but 5 years later I doubt anyone remembers the details of that story other than those close to it. Justice delayed is justice denied. This kind of glacial motion can't be the standard anymore now that the world moves so quickly.

@teenvogue.com continues to deliver. This is the way.

Over the last 100+ years, governments have put thousands of rules dictating residential neighbourhood design. But have those rules made neighbourhoods better? I'd say it's made them objectively worse. I'll take a World War I-era neighbourhood over any post-WW2 design any day.

“Well, it’s better than nothing.” — those who think incorrectly that unsafe bike infrastructure is better than nothing.

Very cool ads that Western Standard (a right-wing "news" rag in Canada) is running on its website!

No one alive will experience a better climate than today. But young people will experience a much more dangerous and chaotic world in the future, and the extent to which that happens will depend on our choices today. Trump doesn't care because he's old and a sociopath. www.ipcc.ch/report/ar6/s...

I love how Trump, Vance and Musk style themselves defenders of free speech, while simultaneously banning government agencies from mentioning climate change or diversity (inc biodiversity!), equity and inclusion, or even possessing maps which show the Gulf of Mexico. Torquemadas the lot of them.

Vancouver always knows what’s up. The Discussion poster on street.

Did you know the most powerful force for climate action is LOVE—for our children, their future, and the world they’ll inherit? That's right! Research shows this message moves hearts 12x more than jobs and 2x more than extreme weather. Source: potentialenergycoalition.org/guides-and-r...

Seems like a really good day for Canadian media to stop letting Pierre Poilievre off the hook for not getting (or not being able to get) the same normal security clearance that everyone else in similar positions has always gotten. In today’s unprecedented dangerous context, that’s a huge red flag.

The Israeli government is using US tax dollars to carry out a mass ethnic cleansing campaign across the occupied West Bank. Since signing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, Israeli forces have displaced almost 40,000 Palestinians from their homes.

Another useful Winnipeg update from Erna Buffie. Yet another parking lot fiasco for city www.winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/anal...

My first Charlemagne of 2025: Why Canada should join the EU. It has space and resources, Europe has people. Let's deal. (OK fine maybe we should just work towards a closer relationship of like-minded countries, especially in the age of Trump.) www.economist.com/europe/2025/...

New CCPA report: Company Men: CEO Pay in Canada, 2023. The top 100 CEOs were paid 210X more than the average worker’s wage in 2023, and this gap is only growing: In 1998, they'd made 104X more. Report busts key myths about CEOs’ pay and their worth. Read here➡️ www.policyalternatives.ca/new...

As always, my last post of the year reminder... Reducing emissions will reduce future climate warming and impacts. The time is now. Visualization made by globalcarbonbudget.org Thank you all for sticking by in 2024! 🙂

This is a must view video. The rise of death threats and hate harassment over the last 4 years has been shocking. The targeting of school board officials, politicians, municipal leaders is an open threat to democracy because it targets people who dare step up to serve.

A fascinating project and an excellent vision, But success will depend on the execution. This will be worth following. Development at The Forks will express joy and spirit of city jewel www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews...

Israel continues its policy of deliberately killing people in so-called "humanitarian zones." They continue using starvation as a tactic against civilians. This is a war crime regime. It is time for total boycotts/sanctions. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/m...

It turns out the Saudi perpetrator had abandoned Islam and was a prominent campaigner against Islam. He appears to have been on the far right politically. This I did not expect. www.theguardian.com/world/2024/d...

“For half a century, a litany of federal policies has favored large SUVs & trucks, pushing automakers & buyers toward larger models. Instead of counteracting #CarBloat thru regulation, policymakers have subtly encouraged it. That has been a boon for car companies but a disaster for everyone else.”

I have been amazed that our public voices have been so accepting of this blatant attack on our country. Individuals I tal to are almost all horrified and angered by those words. Our media and public intellectuals - not so much..

Where bike-friendly infrastructure is the norm, kids gain freedom. No car keys, no backseat waiting. They learn independence, time management, and how to get around on their own. A small shift in how we design cities helps them grow into confident, capable adults.
