2. The German public tends to venerate the Constitution, seeing it as a near-sacred document. It limits discussions on technical aspects.
3. Some of the EU mechanisms to enforce rule-of-law compliance (funding or penalties) may not be as effective in Germany as they have been in other countries.

Some of the expert views:
1. Despite recent amendments to the German Constitution, determined actors could still find workarounds to exploit institutional weaknesses.

The Code of Conduct still matters. It brings:
🔹 A baseline for the EU to assess platform due diligence.
🔹 Annual independent audits to track commitments.
🔹 Collaboration between civil society, institutions & platforms.
🚨 The fight against disinformation continues!

🔻Platforms cut commitments by 31%—with vague justifications.
🔻 Microsoft & Google dropped fact-checking.
🔻 Google, Microsoft & TikTok abandoned political ad commitments, but evidence shows users bypassing bans.
🔺 META still supports fact-checking (for now).
So how useful will the #CoC be? 👇

Three days ago, DRI and @freiheitsrechte.org filed a lawsuit against X for blocking our researchers' access to their data. It was a clear violation of Article 40 of the DSA, which requires platforms to provide access "without undue delay".
We're happy to see our right to data access confirmed!

We monitor social media during campaigns to uncover evidence of systemic risks to our elections, such as disinformation, hate speech and foreign influence ops.
Most platforms understand this and grant us API access to their publicly available data. X refuses to do so!
