None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

And this is the media show. Imagine what these 2 ‘negotiators’ are like behind closed doors… Kia kaha me te aroha Zelenskyy, Ukraine and Europe. Oh, have we heard from Luxon yet #nzpol?

The best way to confront a bully about the misinformation he is spreading is to confront him in front of everyone. Macron just did that.

Looks like a good idea to me! #NZpol

It feels like the writing has been on the wall for such a long time & now, "we are once again at a moment in time where things will not — & cannot — be the same again. However it unfolds, the only certainty is chaos will follow". A great practical piece from a PR/Comms space for all of us. #nzpol

From United Humanists on FB

“So, while everyone is justifiably angry at the firings of Brown, Franchetti, and Sliwe they are missing that Hegseth quietly removed one of the remaining barriers to enacting the most sinister aspects of the Project 2025 and Musk agendas: A non-compliant military.” Even more uncertain times #nzpol

Was just thinking the same thing. We get ‘reporting’ but very limited critical insight #nzpol

Thuggery. More of it

Another good read from Mountain Tui, part of which links to Seymour saying swastikas aren’t as intimidating and Brian Tāmaki is a good man #nzpol

Just say homeless. You are taking away housing leaving people homeless.

Mountain Tui writes an insightful, well-reasoned substack. Here's another one that is worth taking the time for and, if you appreciate it, consider a subscription. We sure aren't getting articles like this from most MSM. #nzpol #mountaintui

This looks very good! Considering submitting something from a localism/community(led) development perspective #climateadaptation #communitydevelopment #kikorangi

Great read from Mountain Tui exposing Atlas at Stuff, ACT strategy of never back down & Seymour supporting Polkinghorne (& more) #nzpol

A #bluesky day #kikorangi

This shows up Seymour and his pathetic childish gaslighting attempts more than any paucity of skill or talent on Guy Williams’ part. More please #nzpol

actually gotta hand it to Williams here, for revealing HOW FUCKING EASY it should be for NZ reporters to challenge Seymour. Focuses on the *reasons* for what is being said instead of taking him at his word, and Seymour can only lie (in the exact way Williams nails him for), attack, the run away.

Good advice #nzpol

Great reading of @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social by Laurie Anderson in Carole Cadwalladr's Substack - applicable in AoNZ too where the coalition's approach (like Trump's) could have been from the Atlas playbook #NZPOL. Then there is DeepSeek and OpenAI: "a con, but a weird one...". Interesting reading.

For your Monday, whānau. Found via Bryan Bruce's substack. Always worth a read. Thanks Bryan! #Bryanbruce #friendship #placemaking

Little known? Wrong, Sam.Many of us know how much state assets in AoNZ are prized by overseas investors. "And a little known fact is that offshore investors love New Zealand, because the profits they can extract are so good. Just ask the supermarkets and banks." www.thepress.co.nz/business/360...

Really interesting comments and discussion on this article #nzpol. I’m going to need to read them again! Lots to take in

So wait, tourists can come and work for foreign employers, not pay any taxes, use our infra and this is nacts growth policy? Is Willis on crack? This is an utter irrelevance #nzpol www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Mīharo TPB submission from Ganesh Nana: “several leaders have said that this Bill will not proceed beyond this Committee stage. That may be so, but is wholly & totally insufficient. The hurt & harm has already occurred, is continuing to occur…& must be acknowledged, recognised, & corrected” #nzpol

“You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.” -Angela Davis Happy 81st birthday, Angela Davis. "If you live long enough a defeat will turn into a victory." --Angela Davis

An interesting read #nzpol

“Contempt is a dangerous way to lead a country”: the sermon that Trump called “nasty” talked about dignity, honesty & humility as foundations for unity. Messages for us all & from which Seymour & his divisive focus on 2 tribes may esp benefit #nzpol www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Some joy ❤️

Feels like Atlas strategies to me, esp when some are effectively ‘memos’. “The point of modern propaganda isn't only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth. The constant noise & endless misdirections are indeed exhausting” & meant to be so #nzpol

An informative read that helps make sense of #nzpol atm where “a fringe party supposedly committed to freedom of thought seeks to impose its ideologies on Parliament & all other political parties in perpetuity, & to set themselves up as the ‘mind police’ to enforce this imposition”. Thanks Dame Anne

Totally agree. Also a long term WFH-er (but now in an office nearby). It is awesome to work in the same neighbourhood as I live in! I know local people & places because I hang out here & walk/cycle to get most things done. That may not work in all neighbourhoods, which is why #20minneighbourhoods!

I like this and a lot of Jem Bendell’s thinking but, for me, it needs something more - regeneration?- for the model to help scaffold us towards transformative adaptation and navigate the chaos that may well ensue. What are your thoughts? #nzpol

#bluesky day! Summertime Tāmaki Makaurau from Maungawhau. #kikorangi ☀️

All of this resonates #nzpol #kikorangi

That is one hell of a very fast drop over a single quarter for the major Governing Party Ironically equally following our plunge in GDP as well (-1.1 and -1.0% over two quarters) Cheers @nzjanette.bsky.social for posting that poll picture

Important reading here, whānau. “No one [nowhere] will be immune”, including AoNZ. I’d love to hear your thoughts about counter strategies #nzpol #kikorangi

This is really interesting: "we live in an “age of anger” – & the populist right is doing a far better job harnessing that anger for political gain... Having embraced free market economics in the 1980s,... centre-left parties are struggling to sell themselves as the answer." #nzpol

Everything except the olive oil & black pepper came from our garden- whoop! I added homegrown basil, beet leaves & tomatoes too + feta (not home made). Summertime eating makes the gardening even more satisfying!

Homegrown fun in the park tonight. The rocks were so well hidden that we didn’t find any at all! But we’ll be back… thanks M&H :) #placemaking
