True words. Would be great if they could break through the two party system and allow real social democrats to have their own party. MAGA on the right, conservatives to the centre right, “blue dog” Dems on the centre left (Obama could speak to them) and S.D.’s on the left (AOC 2028!).

Stop giving him a mic, if this is how he uses it. The reason Vol 2 of his memoir is never coming out is because it’s excruciatingly irrelevant at this point. Pains me to say.

Better yet, read this (warning: it's quite long, but deeply reported) and then ask yourself that very same question again... www.politico.com/magazine/sto...

All well and good and redounds to our health. But they are really a privileged class of refugee at this point, aren't they? Would love to see this influx paired with investment in medical education here at home, as well as more general post-secondary funding.

In Canada, we would say that Big Law is sorting into the Vimy versus Vichy camps.

The Globe and Mail, to its credit, ran a cover story on this in the Saturday edition (I've busted down the paywall in the accompanying photo). But I would like to see more policymakers acknowledge (and adapt to) just about everything in this book, as well: thecon.ai

Well-crafted. Really highlights how tragic a development this is…I hope the ole Gray Lady isn’t too smug in this coverage; I fear they’re not too far behind. Such a devastating blow. 😭

True to type for Deloitte--vampire economics. See, e.g. @mazzucatom.bsky.social's The Big Con. Also true to type for ProPublica; public service journalism.

Deloitte’s certainly acting true to type. marianamazzucato.com/books/the-bi...

This was a disappointing one from Cas Mudde, whose work on populism is exceptional.

Thanks for the re-up, I think I missed it in 2021. Eager to listen to it now, though.

Been posting on Bluesky for all of 54 minutes and already trolling away. “Law prof”. So are half the bots I know.

I wonder whether the courts are also just getting tired of dealing with the dumb-dumbs that DOJ has to pawn these cases off on--i.e. not DOJ's finest. Like, how else can the Court say 'false premise objections are something you think sounds clever but are actually dumb, in the circumstances'?

It’s rough when being mired in the wrong kinds of controversy are distracting from the mission of destroying your institution.

The far-right is why we can't have nice things [like post-debate scrums that are thoughtful and informative or scrums at all it seems].

Respectfully, though, for a post pointing out the immediacy of the threat, saying that SCOTUS “has been accused..” of being politicized is fairly passive. I never miss an opportunity to plug: 5-4 pod. www.fivefourpod.com

Agreed. Nevertheless, I thought this article brought together (however vaguely) a bunch of strands of seemingly disparate, yet actually related, research and findings. On balance, it was a service to the reader.

I think it’s called the Schumer Doctrine. 😭
