I leave for a cruise today and I downloaded IX this morning at 1am to play (for the first time) in case I get bored at sea.

I think the Honda thing is a concept vehicle, not an actual production model. Those always look ridiculous 🤷

That's the beauty of good games, they don't stop being good with the passage of time, but they do stop being expensive... eventually. For a while. Unless they're on Switch. But yeah eventually they become cheap right @alsonamedjosh.bsky.social ?

How do you balance your decks? Are they a snapshot of a previous meta? Building a battle kit of pauper decks seems like a really fun idea.

When they run it through the wastewater treatment plant it removes all the nutrients, you gotta find somewhere where you can get it raw

LOVE this stuff, sadly I'm almost out and I haven't seen it at Costco in ages. I'm sure any brand of powdered Hatch would be just as good though. You can add it to anything, I have high tolerance but I'd say the heat on this is negligible, it's just a flavor cheat code. It's powder, not flake FYI

After seeing your answer I immediately thought Yuna, but nah she'd put that thing on in a heartbeat and ride Valefor like a fell beast. I think the key is to be a gardner, there's something patently absurd about the ambitions of empire and domination when applied to growing flowers or po-tay-toes.

Pretty! Is that some kind of hunting hanger? Or is purposefully designed for champage bottles? Is it bespoke?

When I make tomatillo salsa or guacamole, rinsing the red onions is critical. They will completely overpower everything else and after a day in the fridge you just have weird green colored onion sauce.

We live in an advertising based economy, it's entirely disingenuous to say, "I refuse to link to an ad," everything is an ad. Ads are ok actually, they can be used in problematic ways like any modern affectation, but Fugazi-esque commercial purity is not a realistic mode of operation. What a doof.

I'm curious to see what energy looks like in a 2024 Standard power level set. Do you think we'll just get straight energy counters on a player or some nerfed version, like permanents picking up the counters but otherwise being backwards compatible to spend. I hope we get more green artifact synergy.

I was gonna ask where you're digging up all these treasures. I'm trying to replay some FF titles to get ready for the summer, and I keep finding all these distractions!

Good call, snagging this up on GOG now, I'm pretty sure I still have my og copy but I'll happily pay $4 to not dig for it. Also the old Xbox is pretty dicey, trying to replay KOTR on original hardware was a mistake.

Can we use 17lands data to inform our mulligan decisions?
Aside from: "Try to avoid taking a mulligan," I suspect that the answer is no. There isn't enough information, and mulligan decisions are too complex. I'm curious if you disagree, you know the capabilities of the data better than anyone.

At first I thought the station was called KAREN, but it's K-A-R-E 11? Is it on channel 11? What madness is this, who is allowing a news channel to be on the number 11? Do channels still have numbers?
THE POINT IS, how do I watch this clip

Did taking a mulligan in Bof1 Foundations drop your win% by 15 points, or did it raise your win% by 41 points? Does the second hand seen also get smoothed? You did caveat that your answer was simplistic, but I would love to see a deeper dive into Mulligans with data driven analysis across formats.

That's a good recommendation, I loved both Legends and Lattes and Bookshops and Bonedust 😁 the author makes normal people interesting, you never get to read about just normal everyday people in a fantasy book. Viv's sexuality isn't a plot device, no one cares that she's gay, it's great

Now it's your turn! Do you have a pick to recommend in return? Same criteria is fine but not necessary, book suggestions don't feel proper when they're one sided.

It won the 2020 Hugo, so it ain't exactly a sleeper pick. The sequel is quite good as well, but that gets more into sci-fi territory. Despite the setting, A Memory Called Empire feels right at home alongside other high fantasy series like Wheel of Time, Dagger and the Coin, or Codex Alera(my fav).

UPS Surepost? If so, both UPS for most of the journey and possibly USPS for the "last mile." Multiple transfers and sorts are added wear and stress to the packaging. Again, more reason for Scalefast to be diligent with their packaging. In 10 years at USPS I've seen some shit 😅

Which carrier delivered the parcel? USPS? If the parcel can't withstand an overcaffinated clerk shotputting an Instapot on top of it from 10 yards away, it needs to be packaged better. I'd contact WOTC if the cards are damaged, especially if Scalefast is cheaping out on shipping.

If you're into mystery and intrigue plots this is a great read, it's a sci-fi setting but the story is of a barbarian in foreign lands and the political machinations of forces in conflict around the new ambassador replacing her murdered predecessor. Also, poetry, the poetry is very important

FFX is my favorite game in the franchise. Its not as influential as other titles, but it's the best storytelling. The quick change battle system with actual turn based interaction, the pacing, music, grid system char progression, puzzles, all of it cohesive and sensical with the plot, nigh flawless

The bravest people in real life are not treated in real life the way the bravest people in stories are treated in stories. Bravery is not rewarded in life as it is in fiction, the bravest people in real life are lonelier.
Credit to Rob Harvilla, I'm paraphrasing his 60 Songs episode on Fugazi.

I would honestly be more surprised if they didn't bring back Energy, why else would we be going back to Ghirapur?
comment in response to

Exactly, WOTC philosophy is print the scary card. Putting an historically imbalanced mechanic back into standard is exactly the move they would take to generate interest and hype. The lore theme of Avishkar is renewal and revival, revisiting Energy in a "fixed" version fits in the context here
