so even if the NYT of today sometimes writes good stories, it's by accident, by and large they're doing the will of their billionaire owners, by way of their editorial management. this is deliberate, not whoopsie-daisy. they should not be anywhere close to our first source for news end/

like it was great that katherine graham chose to publish the Pentagon Papers but she was still filthy rich and her wapo would never have written significant stories about exploitation of labor, for example. we can still commend a good story but they're going to be the exception 2/

i mean, to a large degree the nature of the editors only matter so much because a news outlet's output is always going to reflect what its owners want. even if they're righteous and hire good people, if they're billionaires then the outlet's output is going to reflect that. 1/

There's no such thing as a good billionaire, by definition: Hoarding control of resources is *in all cases* a crime against humanity.

To some degree, getting people used to doing it once makes it easier to get them on board with doing it repeatedly, or for longer periods. It's hard to say for sure without knowing which group/organization this is in relation to though.
comment in response to

There's also advocacy for prolonged and repeated actions; I don't think anyone involved in organizing this thinks that a single one-day action is going to accomplish much. There are a lot of different groups organizing out there.

NYT's parent company is publicly traded, and mostly owned by billionaire-run firms like Vanguard/Blackrock/etc. They're not just well-intentioned bumblers, they're actively choosing to be like this.

Jesus. Every single thing that comes out of his mouth just reinforces the truth that everything he says is stupid and/or a lie, and everything he does is incompetent and/or illegal.

Because they're owned by the oligarchs and billionaires who benefit from Trump and Musk's orgy of destruction. This is on purpose, not just ineptitude.

i remember reading Jefferson's "the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants" quote many years ago, and thinking that that probably wouldn't happen again in my lifetime.
seems i was wrong. hopefully most of the blood will come from tyrants.

Why doesn't your story say "TOTALLY FUCKING ILLEGAL executive order"? The Department of Education was established by an act of Congress! The president is not allowed to simply delete it.

well, both bad, different causes. NewsMax owner Chris Ruddy is an ideological fascist, while CNN is owned by the shadowy billionaire owners of the investment firms (Vanguard, Blackrock, etc.) who owns its parent company. either way, not a place you want to get news from

well yeah. to some degree mitigated by courts reinstating agency heads who were fired illegally, but trump will eventually find a way to get rid of them, and install his own tools, and they won't disobey him.
