It should be mentioned that this is a list of only federally owned buildings. This is in addition to the leases they’re looking to cancel which includes the building where I and 200+ other people work.

As a fed who spent the night working my secret second job as a bartender (shhh don't tell) and being very happy my phone died so I could stop checking bluesky constantly I am grateful for the work you did to keep up on this insanity. I also feel maybe leadership is waking up and taking a stand.

I was just talking to someone about this show tonight and how disorienting it was to watch it as an adult and realize how low budget it was. It looks like a community theater production shot for cable access. And I say that as someone who has had a community theater production shot for cable access

and back to the landers also got into country and there were several bands around here in the 60s & 70s. Bluegrass is definitely more prevalent because there are a lot of nerds who like to jam. Yodelin Slim Clark and Kenny Roberts are the most notable old school country guys from Western Mass.

Per capita yes esp in the cities but out here in the country you’ll find more. But they do tend to be farm fresh sometimes. You have to dig through a lot of polka records too. One thing you can find is French Canadian country records cheap which are fun and also sometimes really good. The hippies

Well if you’re ever in the neighborhood let me know. We could do a DJ teamup. There’s even one store where you won’t be competing with me because I don’t go there (long story). This area is a vinyl Mecca but with that comes competition. But country is undervalued by most stores so deals can be had.

My coworker at FWS was culled with a few months left on probation. A huge part of our team who upended her life and moved across the country for the job. We also just hired a bunch of admins after years of trying to fill underpaid positions and now they’re all empty again. Our jobs will now be hell

There are a couple artists from CT and Central/Western Mass that don’t seem to be represented. You can find some of them pretty readily around here in Western Mass. I think I have an extra copy of Paul Edwards’ LP called Country Music Entertainer which is decent stripped down folky country.

I think it’s time to change the language on this. They weren’t fired, they weren’t laid off, they weren’t let go they were forcibly removed from their positions. Culled from the workforce like chickens with bird flu.

I have the issue from the end of the war but that’s much more colorful.

I just deleted the NBC News app from my phone and won’t be going back to their site again. They don’t deserve our ad impressions. I gave up on CNN long ago. Glad you and others like you are still fighting the good fight.

Well it’s about damn time.

I lucked into a copy of that album for a buck last year.

Great show. I loved the electric 12 string wah wah too. That was a wild sound.

They have a new album coming and a couple singles already out including this one with some sweet J Mascis licks.

Venues and artists are going to have to up their game with websites and newsletters to make up for the loss of eyeballs on event listings. I tried building an alternative locally in Western Mass and nobody wanted to either pay to advertise or list things themselves. It sucks but the onus is on them

Im sticking around in FB for two reasons: events and groups. I’m part of a number of communities on FB through groups that aren’t going to migrate anywhere else. The way FB deals with events has gotten worse and worse over the years but it’s still the least terrible option in some ways.

I sure hope someone opens an NFC grill now so they can have a souper bowl stew cook off.

I remember having a similar thought after a few months of working in a record store ten years ago. I had barely heard of the dude up to that point and had no idea how much dudes in Tommy Bahama shirts had to say about him.

An incredible duet partner for Gene Pitney and Charlie Louvin too. So many great records of her own as well and a criminally underrated songwriter who wrote so many of her own tunes. I love spinning her records and blowing peoples minds who don’t know her own work.

Sadly some venues need to learn this lesson too. Way too many rely only on Instagram because Facebook is old but what’s the point of promoting something in an ephemeral story or a post that is most likely to be seen days after the event?

Same here and it’s always been my favorite from that album. I remember playing it over and over when I got my copy of the LP in high school for $2. Buying vinyl in the 90s was a little different than it is now.

“I am enclosing ringo’s tonsils for you to read. If that woman had sent those two lame brained girls two slices of raw liver and told them they were Ringo’s tonsils they would have pounced on them and chewed them like gum“. Sure wish I could’ve met my great grandfather.

I made it through about 20 seconds. All I needed to hear.

This was in reference to a Kiss tribute band and for a band that had their own lunch box you might think they wouldn’t look fondly on someone using their logo. I’ve given up the battle against tribute bands. Most of the people who go to those shows wouldn’t go to see a new band anyway.
comment in response to post
Be careful, when I spoke up against the tribute band mafia I was deemed “anti-fun.” What I don’t understand is all the merch those bands sell with band logos on it. Do they pay a licensing fee?

I’m lucky enough to live in Massachusetts where it is only available straight from the farm & the hygiene standards are very high and strictly enforced. I’m sure there are plenty of gross farms selling shit milk to idiots on the Internet in other places but the product itself is not the problem.
comment in response to post
That’s like saying you shouldn’t eat carrots because they’re grown in fertilizer. It’s not like they squirt the milk straight from the teat into the bottle. Just like anything else it’s about the source. Plenty of responsible, local organic farms sell raw milk that is completely safe and delicious.

Glad to see these guys get spotlighted. Been a fan since the first record.
