The Ed Yong quote highlighted by Mr. Deknatel is very insightful. If the severity of H5N1 effect is high enough, the probability of occurrence becomes less important in your risk calculation. If "IT" happens, it could be very, very bad. That is why you need to prepare beyond masks and sanitizer.

We finally got the MMWR about H5N1 infection chains involving cats in Michigan. Two farmworkers appear to have caught H5N1 from cows/milk and passed it to house cats, who may have passed it to humans. What’s striking here is what we don’t know because humans refused to be tested. 🧪
