Anyone blaming Zelensky for the structured ambush of him in the Oval Office, or accusing him of losing his cool or losing his head, is a blithering fool and/or a vicious and revolting liar. This is on Trump and Vance and their lieutenants; both Trump and Vance are fascists, cowards, and bullies.

Ha! Perfectly said! It's the Special Relationship! Timothy Garton Ash: "(When compared with Emmanuel Macron’s *almost British sycophancy* in the White House the next day, Germany’s prospective chancellor is sounding more robustly Gaullist than the French president.)" [My *emphasis* added above.]

A set-up, an ambush. And much more.

Unlike Zelensky, Trump is playing cards, and the Russians know the cards the Trump regime are playing.

Don't expect much from Starmer. He's got his knickers in a bunch and is desperately trying to maintain his stupid fucking pathetic "special relationship", which it should be obvious is an abusive one and he is the abused. He won't wake up for a long tie yet, during which things will get a lot worse.

No one should be in any doubt that, lickspittle though he is, Lil' Marco is an *even otherwise* contemptible person.

1. Trump has been a disgusting human being with massive media exposure (DHBWMME) showing that since at least 2015, the beginning of his 1st run for the presidency. 2. Vance has been a DHBWMME since his run for office. 3. Still, more than 77 million people voted for them in Nov 2024.

Yes.

I would like to think that Tiger Mom and some of my other Yale colleagues at the law school have enough of a conscience to feel deeply ashamed of their role in bringing Vance to the White House. What just happened was a disgrace.

There has been litmus test after litmus after litmus test for people: time and time again, do you *still* support Trump? And they -- Trumpers -- always fail the test. Today saw probably the biggest litmus test, and they are all failing again, and failing grandly with full-throated support for Trump.

That's fucking pathetic from the Guardian's Rajan Menon: "To be fair, the Ukrainian president shouldn’t have sprung the trap Vance set."

“He’s looking to go on and fight, fight, fight,” Trump told reporters on the South Lawn. “We’re looking to end the death.” 1. Of course Trump is lying. He's looking to restart happy relations with Putin. 2. So, Trump supporters can not now use "fight, fight, fight” as a heroic call?

Here I react to the shameful encounter between American leaders and media and the Ukrainian president. No doubt there were more, but I saw five failures on our side: of hospitality, decency, democracy, strategy, and independence. Please watch and share. snyder.substack.com/p/five-failu...

As an American and a faculty member at the university that awarded Vance a law degree, I want to express my deepest shame to President Zelensky and all Ukrainians for the disgraceful behavior of the American president and vice-president.

I am a pessimist by training but I am more optimistic about Ukraine now than I was this morning. Wish I could say this about the US. This was a horror show, but the trajectory was unsustainable and Trump, in his efforts to help Putin might have generated the pushback energy I haven't seen since 2022

Trump defending his friend and hero Vlad, which is what his "peace" and "ceasefire" is all about:

This is how you lie and fulminate like a Republican -- absolutely disgusting.

Internally, the Trump-Musk-Vance regime is destroying America with its coup. That means, among other things, it is weakening America. Externally, the regime is supporting Russia. Is a weak America a less worse thing that a strong America supporting Russia? Only a weak America would support Russia.

Donnie is fighting for his friend Vlad. That's what he is doing. That's what his usage of "peace" and "ceasefire" mean. '“Let me tell you, Putin went through a hell of a lot with me,” Trump angrily explained. “He went through a phony witch hunt where they used him and Russia, Russia, Russia.”'

Decent people thank Ukraine.

Scott Bessent, the treasury secretary, is a disgusting person, but that was already obvious. He said Zelensky showed “disrespect of the American people."

'The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private conversations, said National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio communicated to the Ukrainians that Trump wanted Zelenskyy to leave the White House immediately.'

Deep deep rot. Here's Lindsey Graham. “What I saw in the Oval office was disrespectful and I don’t know if we can ever do business with Zelenskyy again” ... Graham said Zelenskyy “made it almost impossible to sell to the American people that he’s a good investment.”

I stand with Ukraine. Every decent person should. It’s not just a strategic interest. It’s a moral imperative. Slava Ukraini. 🇺🇦

Problem is: people who shamelessly lie are often not super-impressed by charges of hypocrisy.

this part should be aired over and over — the complete off the charts mental derangement of the president of the united states as he declares, minutes after threatening World War III, his eternal bond to Putin, as a victim of stuff that came out of Hunter Biden’s bathroom

The Swedish prime minister, Ulf Kristersson, said it most correctly: "Sweden stands with Ukraine. You are not only fighting for your freedom but also for all of Europe’s. Slava Ukraini!" Trump and Vance are disgusting, absolutely vile, but nobody will say that.

Musk is a caricature of an inarticulate, emotionally stunted, over-excited dork, stuck at age 15. That's why he did the Sieg Heil: couldn't resist, loved the transgression, and liked playing a Nazi. This dork has no self-awareness, is entirely self-absorbed. Also, a gargantuan asshole.

Even supposedly informed people don't know this. Republicans, almost certainly 100% of them, don't know this, and wouldn't care anyway. 'most or all of the private weather companies in the United States (including all the weather forecasts that you see on the TV news or your favorite weather app)'

1/ A reminder: The Supreme Court refused to enforce the plain language of the 15th Amdt. for a century. Southern states openly defied it, and the Court did nothing. There is nothing stopping them from doing the same on birthright citizenship. Plain language means nothing without political power.🧵⬇️

'Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Britain stood at [Trump's] side and said any deal should not reward Russia’s president, Vladimir V. Putin, for his aggression.' Of course, Starmer wouldn't have to say such obvious things with a president Harris. But Trump *is* a Russian asset, so you have to say it.

Craig Unger, an American journalist and writer who has written two books on Trump’s connections to Russia’s security services and the Russian mafia, says he is "absolutely certain" that the U.S. president is a Russian asset.
