As an alumnae sorority volunteer, learning scientist, and teacher educator, I really appreciate the metaphor of continuing to engage in practices that make students fail over and over again just because we experienced it and survived; it is not rigor but rather hazing.

If your students can’t read your slides past the first row because so much is taken up by graphics…that is a problem.

Yeahhhh this is essentially because I’m going to scream if I see one more awful Canva presentation or graphic. Or a TPT worksheet that is pretty but terrible.

One of the very best classes I’ve ever taken was just him telling stories for 2.5 hours every week at American. Super small class. Used to have a smoke with him on breaks & it was hilarious. His tests were no joke tho - I didn’t switch to typing notes until I took his class in like 2007

One of the most frustrating things I hear from some people with resources is that they want to "do more than give money." OK, that's great BUT GIVE A LOT OF MONEY FIRST. That is doing something concrete and immediate. Those funds are NEEDED.

Thank you. I know it’s almost never meant to be alienating - it’s just a LOT of Christmas in elementary school here! But I got asked to read a book to my son’s class about Hanukkah, so I’m going to try to keep the miracle minimal in the convo & focus on history and culture :)

As someone who used to teach first year writing in that 2nd class department the lit dept created because they didn’t want to teach “remedial” writing…I am not surprised…

I would not be comfortable with my 2nd grader doing this in his public school. Advent is not a secular activity & there’s already enough things that ostracize him when he’s not Christian in December…

Long Beach is known for its fireworks for literally any holiday / if Poly wins anything. But this was wild - Reddit rumor is that a firework warehouse near the port exploded. Haven’t found legit reporting yet tho

Truth. But I am glad that people can stfu about how much better the other leagues are now. If the national championship is two former Pac12 teams I will never stop talking about it with my SEC fan friends 🤣
