Still one of my coolest spots in the wild. The 3 and 87 too, perfect.

Maar toch. Dan vraag ik me af of je wel eens een tulpenvaas hebt gezien.

For a #2 only, happy to add the somewhat graphic: Go knit a brown jumper (Netherlands)

Happy to see Iā€™d jumped into the top 10 this week but I doubt itā€™s numerically possible for me to gain any more spots. Absolute fluke, itā€™s a year I knew almost nothing about :)

Actually, having fact-checked this against the U250 list it turns out to be a nonsense. There might be 5 from 1990 and 1991 combined, but that's it. If the challenge was to choose your 50 faves from your own LDI-U250-FOM lists, then maybe.

Almost certainly also the case for me :)

ā€œFemtexā€ was the one that really blew me away at the time. Cracking opening lines and then the female vocals coming in at the end šŸ’„

Een nieuwe uitspraakvariant van <koningin> - althans dat beweert @fonolog.bsky.social hierboven.

Ik ook, zeker toen ik las dat het was aangedragen door @nynkedehaas.bsky.social

(But I admit I didnā€™t stick with it to pay off w/ repeated listening)

I think you called it the first time around when you dubbed it a mess (and then added the faint praise of "ambitious" and "interesting", I think). Disappointing - I really liked their previous album.

Yes these are all good!

Canā€™t stand George, but heā€™s also responsible for one of my faves, Here Comes the Sun.

Ah, crossed lines:)

But thatā€™s a gender-inclusive strategy only within the binary

Though if it was 1993 this itch would be scratched by my Pavement, Yo La Tengo, Jayhawks etc albums and MJ would be far down the back of the queue, so maybe not.

*a very good dance pop record

Ah no, I just meant that at the time I sent my nominations list The Spark didn't need any more votes to get into the final tournament. No idea how it will fare here, which I why it got my vote now!

I think (I hope) I mention somewhere that velar realisations are included in what I broadly label uvular in my data (we just couldnā€™t reliably differentiate at the time of coding)

I quite liked Groovy Train and All Together Now, but a cursory listen at the time was enough to dissuade me from buying the album. As a regular visitor to record fairs, I've had to remind myself of this many times - lots of copies around for pennies (or the used vinyl equivalent of pennies, Ā£7)

Going for not much money at all on Discogs. Got my copy after discovering a bunch of these on YouTube years ago. Fascinating experience to play it in its entirety. The song somehow both transcends itself and dissolves within itself, for lack of a better description.

Rock Lobsters and John Paul Young the standouts for me

Love it! My friends think I have very narrow music tastes these days, but all along Kelly Lee Owens, Jamie XX and Mall Grab/Caribou were across three different genres

(Ah, I see that was mentioned elsewhere upthread)

Ash as well, on some original editions of 1977. Two tracks incl. ā€œJack Names the Planetsā€ are hidden there before track 1. You just hold the ā€˜rewindā€™ button down like for searching within a track.

What would be the idea in picking a song thatā€™s already through as your main? ā€œWinningā€?

I'd miss the album recommendations - I definitely discovered a few things via your posts here, as before on other platforms - as well as all kinds of insights on British and popular culture. Or even just you being grumpy about something on the radio.

Hi Richard - finally managed just before the cutoff: 1. Kelly Lee Owens - Dreamstate (5pts) 2. Jamie XX - In Waves 3. Charli XCX - Brat 4. Four Tet - Three 5. Christian Loeffler - A Life (1pt) Cheers!

Volgens mij is mijn ruimkoffer wel opengemaakt maar de doosjes hagelslag waren gelukkig allemaal aanwezig en intact.
