This is an excellent article. Da iawn 👏👏👏

If Starmer wanted to avoid the ire of The Mail, he should have kept the relationship going, got another woman pregnant, paid for her an abortion and left his original girlfriend when she developed cancer.

What the Supreme Court said, less than a fortnight ago. It was legally incoherent then and it's practically incoherent now. (supremecourt.uk/uploads/uksc...).

BEFORE BREXIT... EU countries, including the UK: - Easiest possible trade with 27 fellow EU members - V easy trade with EFTA countries AFTER BREXIT... EU countries: - Easiest possible trade with 26 fellow EU members - V easy trade with EFTA countries UK: - Medium/hard trade with the whole world

The UK media really are giving Farage a helping hand. Why?

There were 4 council by-elections yesterday. Reform UK won 0. That makes 240 council by-elections since the General Election, with just 14 seats won by Reform UK. So yeah, the country’s pretty much ignoring him - no matter how hard you lot in the media try to hype him up, journo cvnts. #ukpolitics

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland's had control of the #CrownEstate since 2016. Last year: £108M+ reinvested in Scottish communities. #Wales? Blocked from doing the same by Labour 🥀 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 It’s time to bring our wealth home!

Welcome to the UK where we thought Jeremy Corbyn and his lefty ideas sounded a bit too dangerous, so we chose a guy who wants to murder disabled people and dim the sun instead 👍

Excoriating from @georgemonbiot.bsky.social on Government’s new Planning & Infrastructure Bill which “betrays an undemocratic impatience with the people, motivated by the blatant appeasement of corporate power…the worst assault on England’s ecosystems in living memory”👇

?!

🥳NI is growing. The UK is struggling.😞 Northern Ireland still has Single Market access and it’s paying off. Now imagine if the whole UK had what they have. Jobs. Growth. Hope. Brexit is holding Britain back. It’s time to move forward. #RejoinEU #TeamEU #BrexitRebels 🇬🇧❤️🇪🇺

The Govt’s #PlanningBill would allow developers to pay cash to trash wildlife & the environment. The nature levy isn’t a tool for ecological recovery - it’s a license to kill nature. Pleased to join ecologists & experts to sign letter to MPs👇 @zero-hour.bsky.social @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social

"French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday invited international scientists to work in France or elsewhere in Europe." Shouldn't we be doing the same in the UK? www.france24.com/en/... 1/2

The cartoon sums it up. But the reporting and editorials do not. The Times urges govt to do a deal with the US “urgently” but fails to explain to its readership what we stand to lose if we do. Maybe if the right hadn’t peddled Brexit so furiously and dishonestly, we wouldn’t now be on our knees.

Institutions used to be able to stand up for truth. We are seeing institutions (the BBC, universities, learned societies) shy away from controversial subjects and abdicate their responsibilities. *Any* subject can be made controversial. Institutions have a role to help guide people to the truth.

Oh FGS. Anything that upsets corporate power and/or the far right is now deemed by the BBC to invoke "public controversy", and must therefore be nixed. The BBC has done more to censor public debate than any other organisation in the UK. And still it goes on.

Sunday Times offers a v obliging pre-election interview with Farage. He claims he’s great at ‘seeing ahead’, so he’d have seen the shitshow Brexit would create and then the complicit silence of the rightwing press to call him out on it. Like in this interview. Fittingly, they met in the ‘Fleece Inn’

i’m getting van hollen pilled

The reason why protest is essential to political change is that only when people *see* the scale of discontent do they realise they are not alone, and that the tide can turn.

Labour told us that two governments either end of the M4 would improve things for us. Instead, one government is viciously targeting vulnerable people, and the other is too cowardly to call it out.✍️ Anthony Slaughter

He's right of course. The pages of the Telegraph, the Spectator, GBNews, right-wing "thinktanks" are increasingly dominated by bigots and racists like Murray whose reasoning and objectives are no different from the BNP of the 1990s.

The Minister who introduced the Gender Recognition Bill in the House of Lords in 2003 made it clear that "a transsexual person would have protection under the Sex Discrimination Act [the predecessor to the Equality Act] as a person of the acquired sex or gender." /1

We could do without him. Guess sign writing will significantly increase. And he’s apparently opening another golf course. Visits like this play to his inflated ego and do nothing but make a bigger monster.

Not only did the IDF deliberately attack an ambulance and murder the health workers travelling in it, it appears likely the survivors of the initial attack were executed in cold blood at short range. news.sky.com/story/two-ho...

Epistemic injustice... being autistic means one’s credibility and capacity to relate an accurate account of one’s own experience is often questioned. How can I be a doctor if I am autistic? Conversely, how can I be autistic if I am a doctor? www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

In the Senedd, Labour is paralysed. The evident contempt in which the Secretary of State for Wales holds devolved government renders the First Minister’s mantra about Labour ‘at each end of the M4’ humiliating and ludicrous ✍️Ben Wildsmith

The agenda is just so obvious. It’s not even subtle. It’s in plain sight.

Finally, the correct tariff formula (from Private Eye)

“They should have known that to deliver justice means hearing from both sides. They should have had some humility about the limits of their own knowledge.”

"Ministers and their civil servants have been told to set aside policy work that does not boost growth, or puts excess regulation on businesses." Good to hear. So the Immigration White Paper will aim to increase student and skilled worker migration. www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

Another crucial bit of infrastructure has collapsed bit.ly/43TmVVj young people are denied driving tests and exploiters grab them by bot and resell them. If the govt wants young people to work and study it must sort this out.

The Conservatives’ concept of bilingual education appears to mean monoglot English-medium education (with a dash of Welsh being thrown in now and then if they don’t object) - whereas native Welsh speakers are all expected to be bilingual ✍️Iolo Webb
