I think of this quote all the time.

King Tango ends here threatening Springsteen what will happen to him when he returns to America??? These ‘free speech absolutists’ really are the most thin-skinned crybabies aren’t they.

Great news for all the kids up & down the country putting in the hard yards at the weekend training their signature wave hoping to be scouted for the big leagues & crowned King

Reform is a Limited Company Farage owns 53% It was formed in 2019 to push for a “no-deal Brexit” It wants to reintroduce the Liz Truss budget It wants to privatise the NHS & invest in fossil fuels Close the BBC & break International law It’s a scam Please retweet widely

'Vote Labour, we're a slightly less evil version of Reform UK' is not going to do it for me next time round

'walk with the wise and become wise' 'choose friends carefully, for you become like them' 'go to Albania with GBNews and haemorrhage votes from your base while not picking up any new ones because their viewers utterly despise you'

'The UK, once seen as a pioneer, is now described by TGEU as emblematic of the democratic backsliding affecting minority rights across the region'

BREAKING: The politicians who take thousands of pounds in expenses and stuff their faces at a tax-payer subsidised canteen and get drunk at a tax-payer subsidised bar and enjoy a tax-payer subsidised second home want you to know it's wrong to take handouts from the state x

Anyone who understands the meaning of English can see what Starmer meant in his speech. No amount of pleading that he values a diverse society can counter what he said, which is that he thinks a diverse society is squalid experiment. He's lost his moral standing as a leader of the Labour Party.

Do you get it now?

Trouble is, a lot of decent people voted Labour because they approved of Britain giving aid.

My grandmas were immigrants, my mum & sisters in law are immigrants; my sister & nephews are migrants. My kids study maths, Shakespeare, dance, act & score tries alongside the kids of immigrants. My dad’s life was saved by immigrants. Immigrants have made us richer, wiser, stronger Win the fight

It answers to another dogwhistle ... you wouldn't know it

While the UK government is fighting to win an imaginary -and likely non existing- voter torn between Labour and Reform, they alienate the very real and rapidly growing electoral pool of first and second generation immigrant voters who overwhelmingly voted for Labour and today feel betrayed.

So pleased Keir Starmer has joined The Tory Party with his ‘Island of Strangers’ speech. I’ve given him an Enoch Powell style moustache. Rather dashing don’t you think? What’s he saying next? Rivers of Blood? Get Brexit Done? Build Back Better? This Lady’s Not For Turning? 🇬🇧

I don’t think anybody has suggested Southport was “a fascist uprising”. Rather it presented an excuse for a lot of racist people to spread racist conspiracy theories and engage in and incite racist violence. That is a matter of record. The desperation to pretend otherwise is bizarre.

Weathercocks and signposts.

Well done Labour Anyone who thought you represented real change now despises you. Anyone who didn’t, still won’t. People who weren’t that convinced but hoped for the best are out of patience. You’ve managed to turn off everyone. Quite the achievement!

"incalculable damage"

And politically stupid, too. Alienates core vote (& they do have places to go) in pursuit of votes he'll rarely get, & demolishes his core policy agenda of growth, making his re-election more unlikely. Even those (inc. me) willing to cut him a lot of slack feel betrayed. A truly awful day for UK.

I really regret saying Labour has finally lost my vote because there is not a day that goes by when I don’t wish I could say it again.

I hope you’re not waiting for some clever defence of Starmer’s speech. As you know, I try to be fair and have praised him on foreign policy. I don’t think the White Paper is terrible, but ALL of the language surrounding it is inexcusable, insupportable, and indefensible. He can kiss my migrant butt.

Our response to this government white paper on immigration

Immigration is a beautiful thing and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise ❤️

Very ashamed today of Starmer/Labour's comments about 'island of strangers' and 'incalculable damage'. It's the job of the government to leave the country in a better place than they found it, not to appeal to the base instincts of a nation in order simply to carry on governing.

Can't defend a government that lies like this.

I don't know how it could be made any plainer.

Labour going hard on immigration = 1. Damaging the economy 2. Pushing pissed off left-leaning voters to the Greens, Plaid, the SNP and the LibDems 3. Offering nowhere near enough for Reform-leaning voters All in all, politically and economically illiterate.

I guess it would be too much for them to ask whether it would improve the country rather than whether it will win votes. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This is absolutely brilliant satire that succinctly explains how the Daily Mail radicalises people.

Labour might wonder why, less than a year into a new government promising “change”, people are giving up on it in droves. So let me help it out with a few clues. 1. Cutting disability benefits 2. Freezing Local Housing Allowance. 3. Maintaining the cruel, Malthusian two-child benefit cap .... 🧵

Translated into NonWestminster: 'Labour MPs are starting to get nervous about steps being taken to preserve the future of the human race and the planet… [and an MP] said steps against climate warming could "play out the same way as Brexit"…' See how stupid that is?

Ethnic cleansing, tacitly endorsed, and carried out with arms supplied by, the UK. Utterly, utterly shameful.
