There was absolutely no justification for the American invasion of Vietnam. The Americans should not have been there at all. Jane Fonda was correct to speak out against it.

Honorable mention to Guy Pearce who wore a #FreePalestine pin on his tux. Classy.
I wonder if he was asked about it on the red carpet?

No Other Land won an Oscar despite not having a single U.S. distributer. Films that highlight Palestinian resistance are not usually championed by Hollywood. So this win is truly incredible.

Even one of the takes expressing revulsion at the treatment of trans people also says that the administration's policies aren't consequential because they affect a small population. Would anyone say the same about the explicit persecution of an ethnic or religious minority? This is extraordinary.

The placement of "trans issues" here is, without exaggeration, one of the most depraved things I've ever seen in the pages of this publication.

In addition, employees at the federally funded broadcaster, which has long prided itself on independence from the White House, told me that at least a couple of VOA articles that included criticism of Trump and his administration were shelved or watered down – after being published.

The reason we scoff at these leopard-eats-face articles about Trump voters isn't because we're coastal elites who view Trump voters as subhuman.
It's because we've spent the last 8 years being gaslit by Trump voters and the complict media about what their true values are. We're not stupid.

You had David Frum and O’Leary as guests, but not a single Indigenous or Quebecois leader or constitutional law expert. On a show about the annexation of Canada.
You’re either incompetent or intentionally trying to normalize expansionist far-right rhetoric, take your pick.

The research team behind John Oliver Tonight did an impressive amount of prep work for this, turning complex topics into accessible entertainment.

Journalism's role is not just to present information, but to contextualize it responsibly. When I covered Hurricane Fiona's impact on my community and province, I did not entertain baseless claims that our communities deserve the devastation because we had 'built homes too close to the water' 5/
