The national stillbirth rate for Black women was 10.3 and for white women 4.7. The first and easiest step, she said, is listening to pregnant Black women. “We can’t prevent every stillbirth,” she said, “but we can sure prevent a lot if we listen.”

1/ When I asked how the night went you gave the tiniest of shrugs. You: “I’m making it.” Me: “What does that mean?” You: *shrugs again* You turned in bed a bit and I saw you grimace. It was fleeting but I saw it. You were not okay.

Supervised consumption sites don’t “enable” drug use, they provide health care for people who are already using drugs. You shouldn’t have to be drug free to access health care! My last overdose was at booth 5 and I’m now almost 12 years sober. That wouldn’t be possible without harm reduction.

One of my fun facts that still messes with my mind is that scientifically there's not really trees or fish. Instead there's this effective body plan which many different unrelated species evolved to use. So "tree" and "fish" is more of a verb than a noun. It's a plant treeing. 😂

When insulin was first patented in 1923, the discoverers declined to put their names on it as they felt that insulin belonged to the public. 101 years later, insulin is inaccessible to thousands of Americans because of price gouging by near-monopoly private insurance corporations and their PBMs.
