I used to live in Santiago de Compostela in the early 1990s and I got so tired of the click-‘click-click-clack’ sound of those bloody hikers’ walking sticks as they crossed the Plaza de Quintana and marvelled at the cathedral.

I wish that I had attended the event and seen you. I would have happily said “hi” and bought you a drink. After a long absence, I am reacquainting myself with this wonderful theatre and its passion for giving voice to new writing and nurturing young talent. 🎭

I am gay and am well aware of the slur in the song. I have enjoyed singing along to it over the years and have never once been offended or upset by the word’s inclusion. They are a straight couple, wildly hurling insults at each other, and it doesn’t have anything to do with our community. 🤷🏻♂️

I’m looking forward to seeing it, not least, because I loved the stage musical and one of my best friends is a background artist in the film… but I’m hoping that, when I go, it won’t descend into a sing-a-long performance. I appreciate the devotion of the fans, but I’m paying to see the stars sing.
