He started posting the quiet part out loud before that point, I've heard it was when he called that diver a pedophile

That's apparently when his path into insanity started. Before that, he had a team of PR people keeping him from posting the quiet part out loud. So I can't fault people for thinking Elon was cool prior to that point

You realize aid to Israel is allocated by Congress, right? The president can't just cut it off. Bernie tried, and only 7 senators voted for it. He said many more Dems supported it in private. Blame AIPAC for making them scared to vote against Israel in public.

Charges should be brought at a state level so the Trump admin can't interfere.

Probably a way to keep the trademark applicable. Looks stupid, like the Disney remakes.

This is actually not a terrible idea, which is surprising. You know what they say about broken clocks. People have wanted to get rid of the penny since the 1980s when it started to cost more than a cent to make.

You know the expression, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" Wish more members of the party stood up to the orange felon.

There was that time last year when Markwayne Mullen threatened to fist fight the head of the Teamsters and had to be held back by Bernie I'm sure Congress members used to get into fist fights more often, but now that it's all televised it would hurt their popularity if they started getting violent.

I feel like punching other politicians in the face would cause them to not be reelected more than...whatever they're doing now
comment in response to post
I mean, is he wrong? There's no filibustering in the House either so they're literally powerless. Senate Dems can filibuster and that's about it. What do you want them to do, start MMA fighting other reps on the House floor?
comment in response to post
I appreciate the fact checking but can we stop using WaPost? Let's share articles from sources that don't simp for Trump.
comment in response to post
So if they only need 51 votes to call for cloture on a nomination, what exactly is the point of filibustering? Did the Republicans just let them waste time as a nicety, knowing it wouldn't do anything?
comment in response to post
Yes, I know what a filibuster is. The reason it works for legislation is that you need 60 votes for cloture, so if the minority party is filibustering then they can never call a vote and it effectively dies. IIRC this used to be the case for confirmations too, but the rules were changed.

I can't wait for MAGA to start saying Ronald Reagan is too liberal 🤣
comment in response to post
So how are they able to filibuster, are they just objecting over and over to hold the floor?
comment in response to post
I mean, if his nominees weren't super terrible this wouldn't be an issue. The Senate voted unanimously to confirm Marco Rubio because he's actually qualified. The rest aren't.
comment in response to post
What is unanimous consent and what does withholding it do? I'm a bit confused about how this works. I love that the Dems are holding the floor hostage, but when I researched the filibuster it said they got rid of it for cabinet appointments 2013 to advance Obama's nominees. So how does this work?

We chose the bad timeline.

I wish, but the Republicans in Congress are complicit. How did they manage to impeach him the first time over witholding Ukraine aid? Was that after Dems retook a majority?

What did I miss... What promotion?

Ok I do agree with banning anything unironically using the word "latinx" but otherwise this is dumb

Yeah, Trump was pretty brutal to Cruz and his wife and he just bent the knee anyway. Pathetic
comment in response to post
He voted no on Hegseth. But yeah idk what's up with the others
comment in response to post
He was totally happy to watch the country burn under Trump but when Trump insulted his wife THAT'S what made him stand up.
comment in response to post
At least he's finally opposing Trump; you guys should focus on getting a democrat elected to replace him in 2026.
comment in response to post
Wow, that's pretty messed up. I had a teacher in high school who adopted a Korean baby. I hope he did the paperwork correctly, that kid would be an adult by now.
comment in response to post
Yeah, this seems to be a pretty common complaint and it's why you see Latinos who supported Trump despite his racist rhetoric - because they feel resentful that they had to wait 10+ years to get legal status and see their peers just cheating. We definitely need to make it easier and quicker
comment in response to post
I'm a little confused, the article mentions migrants, those aren't "illegal immigrants" even if the Republicans want to claim they are. Are there tens of thousands of Koreans who came here on a tourist visa and just never left?
comment in response to post
I suppose it would depend if they have to take an oath first. Like if the House ethics committee were investigating one of its members (like they did with Matt Gaetz), I'd assume them to require that. But for, like, normal bill discussions then no.
comment in response to post
Can a judge do something about this? I'm sure he'd ignore it anyway, but it creates a stronger case if he openly defies a court order.
comment in response to post
Wait, is it legitimately not a crime to lie to Congress if you're a member? I assume perjury is perjury regardless who you are
comment in response to post
That's what impresses me so much about Pritzker - he's a billionaire, but still fights the good fight and doesn't just try to buy elections. That's so rare these days and we need more of it!

Things are heating up in the Jesus fandom

Also we did send condoms to Gaza in 2019 during Trump's first term, so there's that

We did send condoms to Gaza in *checks notes* 2019 when *checks notes again* Trump was president

What is this unanimous consent thing and how does it differ if they withold it?
comment in response to post
Filibustering legislation is the big one

The guy doesn't have any values of his own, he's strictly a Peter Thiel sock puppet at this point

Border wall fans keep forgetting airplanes exist.
comment in response to post
How can they shut it down? No more filibuster for nominations
comment in response to post
Can the senate impeach too? I thought the House had to do it, and then the senate votes to convict
comment in response to post
Executive orders are only for the executive branch of the federal government. The withholding money thing sounds bad, but he can't outright ban gender affirming care if your state's laws allow it. At worst, insurance companies will stop covering HRT out of fear
comment in response to post
Yeah, about all they can do is filibuster bills in the senate. I'm not sure how they can do anything about Trump's illegal EOs, but even if they had a majority what could they do?
comment in response to post
I watch a lot of Last Week Tonight but I can't recall that episode. Do you have a link handy?

Every YouTube video with this senator, there are a bunch of comments about how great he is. Absolutely ridiculous. He sounds like an idiot

I don't see his post anymore so it must have been deleted by Bluesky mods. I love that this platform actually deletes Nazi stuff! Meanwhile over on Twitter, Elon suspends your account if you criticize him.
