A Brief History of Kids Today Have Too Much Freedom 🧵

I find this very moving: a 10-year-old Ukrainian boy who moved to the West of Ireland 2 years ago as a refugee, speaking in Irish of his love of playing Irish music

The Paladin laughed as the Rogue’s dagger whistled past his ear. But the mockery soon faded from the Holy Knight’s lips after he spied the Rogue reaching for yet another blade…

Elon Musk | American History X I cut the clip. You decide.

Be as weird as hell today. Make him proud.

Look at this magnificent structure. Star guts. Exploded out into the interstellar medium.

A truly awful day for movies and art, losing one of the most singular and brilliant voices to ever make them. We've unlocked our full David Lynch issue from 2017, which is now entirely free to read. R.I.P. Mr. Lynch, and thank you forever for the work and example you left us.

Forever my favourite David Lynch moment. Rest in peace to a legend.

We must protect David Byrne at all costs!

The bad news is that David Lynch passed. The good news is heaven got real weird today.

David Bowie died right before Trump’s first term back in 2016. Now, David Lynch dies right before Trump’s second term. It feels the best of us are being sacrificed so the most mediocre of us can thrive.

GNU David Lynch. đź’”

Vale David Lynch

Kyle MacLachlan pays tribute to David Lynch "I will miss him more than the limits of my language can tell and my heart can bear. My world is that much fuller because I knew him and that much emptier now that he’s gone ... Thank you for everything"

In #JapaneseFolklore kyorinrin is a #yokai that occurs when ancient books, scrolls and scriptures are left neglected and unstudied by their owners for many years. As with other tsukumogami, once reaching advanced age the objects obtain their own spirit and become animated. #FolkyFriday #folklore 1/2

This is a beautiful tribute.

David Lynch opened and held a place for art that other creators could point to whenever a potential editor or producer wanted to turn their work down because it was too weird, and get that work made/published etc. He kept proving audiences weren't dumb.

For those interested, I've just posted my entire recommended list of stories and poems from 2023 on my blog: ellendatlow.com/category/news/

When did insects first show up in art? The earliest example was carved into a bison bone dated to 15,000 years ago (!) found in the Cave of the Trois-Frères in France. It shows a cave cricket which probably represents Troglophilus, a genus not found in the region in the present day. 🦗🎨 #bugsky

Even with the massive influx of new users, mods are doing great work weeding out trolls. Also, a friendly reminder: please take a second to vet blocklists. Troll farms etc are using bait-&-switch tactics.

As we head into the end of 2024, ask yourself: have I done enough this year? You're still here, reading this, so yes. You've done enough. Anything else is gravy. You're awesome.

In our quest to bring you the best in contemporary weird fiction, few titles have had the lasting impact and influence of John Langan’s Bram Stoker Award-winning novel, The Fisherman, which Word Horde published in 2016.

An oldie from Inktober 2018: trilobyte

Albert Einstein submitted "The Field Equations of Gravitation" to the Prussian Academy #OTD in 1915. After years of work culminating in a frenzied month-long race against David Hilbert, Einstein had finally obtained the correct form of the field equations for general relativity. 🧪 🔭 ⚛️ (1/n)
