Thank you so much for sharing this lovely piece. My first Lynch film was The Elephant Man, so daring to present the feeling human inside a "monster." Then Dune woke me up to how weird I *wanted* movies, books, music to be. I loved it and still do. The monstrous is human and vice versa.

I’ll always be thankful as a teen I stumbled onto Dune on TV, weird and mesmerizing, which led me to stay up late one night to see Blue Velvet. When Twin Peaks premiered, there was no going back. Lynch loved America & his characters, but never shied away from the trauma and horror underneath it all.

A truly sad loss. I loved every one of his films, even his disliked version of “Dune”. I was hoping for a little more “Twin Peaks,” but I’m happy we got so many great episodes. The horse is the white of the eye, and dark within.
Beautiful. Lynch was a unique talent. Watching Eraserhead as a teen was the introduction to adulthood my generation needed - embedding depth, beauty and strangeness into punk culture. Thank you for your art.
I LOVE Lynch’s Dune.
Love it!
The production, the acting, the costumes, the vision, they all worked.
And the opening with the stunning Virginia Madsen is, perfection.
And yes Timothée Chalamet killed it in the newest Dune franchise but, Kyle MacLachlan will always be Paul to me.
Only the words of the kwisatz haderach could heal my heart, thank you for this 👏 we were lucky to have him, even luckier that he shared his visions with the world.

What a beautiful tribute. My parents were very good friends with Kyle's parents so I have very fond memories of our family staying with his in Yakima for fun summer visits. The last time I saw Kyle was when we were both students at the university of Washington many, many (many) moons ago.

I ended up in Wilmington NC a decade after Blue Velvet and Dune made it a production facility, and the city owes so much to his willingness to start a new Hollywood there (11 theater companies and an airport never hurt either). He didn't pick the location but he believed in it.
I tried to check the local papers online but it appears the Star-News sold out multiple times and is now a skeleton operation in an office park. God that's depressing.
This is so beautiful. 😭 I love it when people express about each other this way, with their whole heart. Kyle McLaughlin is a lovely human, and David Lynch's work was a huge influence on me. I was really stricken when I heard he passed. RIP ❤️

When I saw Dune at the time, I was still a young minded teenager and didn't appreciate the genius mind of David Lynch. I recently rewatched it right before the new Dune movies, and Lynch's creativity and imagination were next level. RIP.
I haven't read the books so I don't know how well the adaption goes, I just really enjoyed the movie that Lynch did. I should view the new ones at some point.

Funny how death brings out the best in people. Not always, of course, but a sincerely loving tribute like this from a dear friend to another at their passing is, in a weird sort of way, strangely life-affirming.

I remember Mel Brooks talking about Lynch (Brooks produced The Elephant Man): [paraphrase] "Here's this guy who makes these weird movies you can't understand, but when you meet him, he's Jimmy Stewart."
I will never forget my life in Florida at age 21. I was in Boca & watched #TwinPeaks for the first time with friends, happily stoned. Saw Ozzfest Miami the next day & the most beautiful people. Reminded me to never compromise my obscurities! 💙🕊️👁️ #thankyoulynch #oddities #weird #trueartist #selflove

I knew he would be beautifully eloquent in tribute. I surfed into the last 45 minutes of "Blue Velvet" the other night and had to stop and watch watch. Still mesmerizing.

Thank you for sharing!
... they definitely fucked
I think lighting a candle is in order.
Thank you for posting this lovely tribute. 💖💙🇺🇸
It has been so heartwarming to see how much people that worked with him absolutely adored him.
I wish I could express myself half as well.

RIP Mr. Lynch
… and prince. No wonder I’m so screwed up.
She’s almost too beautiful.
Hurts a little.
He was crazy and creepy and delightfully evil.
RIP: Kenneth.
I haven’t watched the new ones because I seriously LOVED his version.
(Also no Sting but whatever. Only concert I’ve ever been dragged back to my seat by security 🤣🤣)
Beautiful.
😞
Thank you for sharing this, Emily.
I loved David Lynch in Spielberg’s latest film. I think it sums up his impish humour. Fabulous
Thanks so much for sharing it! 💞
Amazing what Lynch did with a narrative so complicated and so many moving parts.

‘David was in tune with the universe and his own imagination on a level that seemed to be the best version of human.’ 🥹💙🙏🏽
Beautiful.
Such a loss.
His were the first films that showed, sometimes you just have to sit back, strap in, and enjoy a wild ride.

I always liked that.
This apples to all of us. I believe this to my bones
It's a very weird series of books. It needed a weird director to portray it.
