🚨 Kennedy’s HHS Sent Congress ‘Junk Science’ To Defend Vaccine Changes, Experts Say - KFF Health News (June 13, 2025) kffhealthnews.org/news/article...

A social media without algorithms on which you need to work to organise your experience and your feeds is a social media where you are the one having the control over what information is presented to you. It is a social media that teaches you how to do social media responsibly. That is a good thing.

The only thing the governments used when they infected almost every single human with C19… was the hospitalisation and death rate numbers. Let that sink in. For a new virus.

We have already seen adults complaining about poor performance, lack of motivation and malingering in children & teens without considering the known cognitive and energy limiting impacts of post-Covid conditions. We have and are continuing to fail our kids.

Does anyone have experience with and/or resources about using Signal app with screen readers or similar accessibility tech? Is Signal compatible with screen readers? Any tips or tricks or barriers to be aware of? Disability communities need infosec, too! I appreciate boosts as much as replies!

Friends- it is 2025. Can we stop with the term "vaccine skeptic" to describe people openly hostile to vaccines and whose views are not based in evidence? That is not skepticism. That is denialism.

The confirmed* #measles count in the US so far in 2025 (*undoubtedly an underestimate) stands at 1197 as of 6/12, per #CDC. Another 78 cases would surpass the 2019 count, which is currently the highest yearly total since measles elimination in the US in 2000 — & we're not yet 6 months into the year.

Today's your day to pick an event to attend tomorrow & figure out how you're getting there & what/whom you'll bring with you. ~2000 demonstrations across all 50 states (& a few other countries) are on Sat., organized by groups like Indivisible, the ACLU & 50501. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/13/u...

It is so important right now to highlight the stories of people doing good and fighting back. So important.

🚨A must-read short 🧵 by @linnj.bsky.social on Twitter: "I think one of the biggest failures in the early pandemic response was the messaging around shielding the vulnerable..." 🚨 threadreaderapp.com/thread/19334...

There might be some confusion between ‘the pandemic is over’ & ‘covid is over’. The state of political & system-level emergency associated with pandemic spread of a new virus is over but covid is still here. So we must deal with it in our non-emergency systems rather than pretend we’re back in 2019!

You sent them to school unprotected. You insisted on in-person education without mitigations. You did not fight for ventilation or filtration. You believed kids were magically immune to damage. Now, this. And it's going to get worse if we don't fix this... www.cbsnews.com/video/millio...

Psst. Can I interest you in a cheetah vocalizing? Surprising, isn't it? This is called a "chirp". It's used in a variety of settings: greetings, courtship, excitement, signaling a kill to others. There's a louder version for a mother summoning cubs or vice versa called a 'yelp'.

Four engineers get into a car. The car won’t start The mechanical engineer says: “It’s a broken starter” The electrical engineer says: “Dead battery” The chemical engineer says: “Impurities in the gasoline” The IT engineer says: “Hey guys, how about we all get out of the car and get back in”

Nothing illustrates the all-encompassing social and institutional denial of Covid-19 more keenly than the absolute refusal of many governments to accept that the disease and its many sequelae are a significant causative factor in increased school absenteeism. Wilful blindness.

Brought a new air quality monitor to class today. The photo was taken at the beginning of class, before my air cleaners were running. By the end of the 2h class: PM2.5: ~9.0 µg/m3 PM10: ~16 µg/m3 I don’t think this is terribly surprising given the old building. CO2 is still great though!

Purely anecdotal but I’m having trouble finding great up-to-date tracking so figured I’d share that over the past 2 weeks I’ve seen a significant uptick in people presenting with COVID and complications like organ damage (mostly kidney injury and hepatitis but pneumonia; too) needing hospitalization

bluesky is the #1 app for introspection

In exasperation the academic declared that no one is willing to admit the danger is real until it comes for them, so I asked her if she was referring to the climate crisis or the ongoing pandemic, to the rise of fascism or some other danger, and the academic replied: yes.

Some serious shade from @slate.com today re Bluesky - but here’s the thing. This platform doesn’t have an algorithm that tracks you to offer up commercialized slop. YOU have to do the legwork to find & follow interesting people and subscribe to feeds on topics you want to hear about.
