Just wondered if there’s anyone here who doesn’t think Trump is a dangerous maniac?

It’s been 50 years since the horrific Moorgate tube train crash, and Laurence Marks and I have written a brace of plays for radio 4 to honour the victims and the rescuers. Being transmitted ext Wednesday and Thursday.

Returning to the theme of overlooked #classiccomedies - everyone salute the extraordinary #NurseJackie, a heartwarming, heart-wringing situation -tragedy starring the wondrous #EdieFalco as the ministering angel with a crippling drug habit. It won every prize going, year after year after year.

#Medicinema. Who knew? Brilliant. #BAFTA

Acceptance speeches at #BAFTA should be shorter. A lot shorter. About 100% shorter.

David Tennant’s opening #BAFTA monologue reminds one that shows like this are usually presented by comedians rather than actors pretending to be comedians. Poor David.

Oops 😬

As it’s a quiet Sunday, I’m thinking about #Trump and what his shtick reminds me of. And then I had it a revelation - it’s the Antichrist! I’m not saying Don’s the AC; he’s just be the false prophet who precedes the big man. But if I can see it why can’t the devout of the USA?

@malvernbard.bsky.social welcome to a world of relative safety.

#itv’s report on the great #PaulineQuirke’s retirement, on health grounds, was so much more respectful and fuller than the shamefully scrappy little item on BBC news.

I find #Trump’s posturing utterly disgusting. Why can’t he behave with dignity like other Fascist leaders?

If you don’t believe in miracles how do you explain #Trump’s perfect, beautiful ear? Regeneration?

Tonight this place somehow seems rather like the other place - either bad tempered, or else full of obscure (to Brits anyway) American sports gossip.

Another brilliant edition of #Newsnight hosted by the equally brilliant @vicderbyshire.bsky.social . I am furious! (On a lighter note Happy 92nd Birthday to wonderful Betty.) She expressed how so many people feel. I wish all the subpostmasters the very best and that they receive the compensation.

Some of the Post Office’s victims are on #BBC #Newsnight right now. The Post Office are still trying to shaft them. What is our #LabourGovernment going to do about it?

Today’s #forgottensitcom is Shelley (ITV 1979-92) created and initially written by the inestimable Peter Tilbury and starring Hywel Bennett as an over-qualified layabout. A very smart show. The sort that doesn’t get made these days.

Happy to quote the source!

@estalachark.bsky.social to see you nice

So good! Don’t sob, beam! I remember being amazed by the standard of my kids’ projects when they were around that age, and schools were being encouraged to prioritise course work over annual exams. The last UK government rolled back on all that, of course.

For today’s #overlookedsitcom I’m going to champion #GetBack (BBC 1992-93) a show whose gimmick was that the characters’ names were inspired by the songs of Lennon and/or McCartney. #RayWinstone starred as Martin Sweet with 16 year old #KateWinslet making her tv debut as his daughter Eleanor

#forgottensitcom time. Married With Children (1887-97 Fox Network) was an over the top riot. It featured Ed O’Neill, who 20 years later (more or less) starred in the equally successful Modern Family

Canadian MP Charlie Angus responded to Trump's proposal to make Canada the 51st U.S. state by noting that existing laws prevent "sexual abusers" from leading his nation.

As the great comedy writer #IanLaFrenais is today celebrating his 88th birthday, instead of a #forgottensitcom let’s all enjoy the best UK comedy series of all time, #Porridge.

In good news, #ElonMusk has just announced he’s going to produce an affordable “people’s car”.
