#LTHEchat A4. dedicated and protected time; safe and supportive environment to discuss and make changes; opportunities for staff-student partnerships; buy-in from the top. And is silencing of the haters and sacking of abusers/harassers too much to ask for?

PPS: can we decolonise research methods? Particularly in SoTL when we try to capture student (and colleague) voices?! A4 #LTHEchat

In research methods I like to focus on how "traditional" methods are silencing voices who are not within an expected experience range (pet peeve Likert scales). Again challenge knowledge systems and what counts and knowing. A4 #LTHEchat 2/2

A1. #LTHEchat Lack of discussion or acknowledgement of challenging situations from peers/staff e.g. psychological impact of 2024 riots in uk and how this could affect day-to-day living for minority students and their families/friends. Exposure to racism on campus and social media.

a2 #LTHEchat fear of judgement around things such as appearance and accent bias for assessed presentations as well as formative classes e.g. tutorials and active learning sessions

A1. #LTHEchat pressures to be a successful "model minority" and prove oneself to others increases stress and also reduces opportunities to safely learn from failure.
