This looks like a problem with the sprite tile data, held in VRAM/OAM. I believe OAM is internal to the 1Chip, but according to the slightly older version schematic below, the VRAM is the static 62256 devices in U4 and U5. These would be my 1st port of call. wiki.superfamicom.org/uploads/snes...

You could say the same about a necktie. I mean, it's a massive arrow.

Letter frequency, starting with the two letter words (which I guess is where my mistake was) then likelihood of words in a self-contained phrase that weren't discounted by the cypher pattern. Nice distraction over a cup of coffee!
comment in response to post
Does the cypher contain a mistake? The best I can come up with is "Wherever you go, by happy my dear friend". Good fun, thanks!

Hands down 'Defender' if I was playing at my local arcade, 'Berzerk' if at the seaside :)

I had one when it came out. The logo that came up on boot fooled me into thinking it was capable of pixel-level graphics. It wasn't! I can still picture the Z80 under the cover with all of the leads I'd soldered to the pins ... good times.

To have one, immutable set of fiscal rules that are set no matter what the economic or geopolitical conditions is idiocy. And deeply disappointing.

And we have allowed ourselves to be poisoned in the same way that the US has poisoned itself.

I ran with IIS ASP for years, putting up with the constant need to pause/restart the www service or reboot. Since biting the bullet and recoding to PHP (a pleasantly simple process) after switching to Apache, it's almost forgettable :)

Well done Kit. There is no cachet in association with those not willing to stand up for their own ethical principles. It's difficult to believe that those who wrote or agreed this vague statement are the same people that write papers. royalsociety.org/news/2025/03...

He hardly gave them plenty of notice to diversify their produce. Looks the population are going to have to learn to love Soybeans.

We hold elections to empower politicians to make decisions based on the best information available. Scientists speaking truth to, and engaging directly with the public is a safeguard to make sure they are doing so transparently. It is our duty to continue.

This is an important point. Even after all these years there is still ambiguity whether the US possesses the ability to interfere with the UK's ability to launch Trident. The warheads are ours, but the missiles are leased from the US.

I feel that change may be on the way. While the economic fallout of the last 2 months' actions are yet to be felt, they are certain to hurt the economy and jobs market. Republicans have to eat too, and they say that revolution is only 3 missed meals away.
comment in response to post
From an outsider's (UK) perspective, the 'United' part of the USA looks quite vulnerable right now. If revolution is to happen, then the actions of individual states against Federal power will be a good indicator.

It was an obvious trap. Trump & Vance never had any intention of signing the agreement. All just theatre to try and humiliate Zelenskyy. Do they really think that they'll unseat him this way?

Unlikely - Merz almost certainly needs to form a coalition government before that can happen, and he has already slated Easter for the partnership to be in place. If he has to garner support from a selection of parties rather than a single partner, then it is likely to take longer.

Good memories come flooding back of playing with the SAA1099 (same-ish time as the YM3812) in the 80s. Polyphonic ICs were like magic when all you had before was a LPF'd square wave.

I'm not sure, wasn't SLIP more to do with networking over serial? Frankly, it's been so long I could be hallucinating.

BBC BASIC was good. My favourite however has to be Extended BASIC supplied with the Research Machines 380Z. The one loaded from floppy rather than cassette :)

I seem to remember (80s?) that slurp was a DOS file transfer utility over serial/parallel comms between computers. There doesn't seem to be any info about it online now, so don't quote me on that :)

This reminds me of an interview question I set 30 years ago. Not one interviewee got it right: "How do you swap 2 8-bit values without using any form of temporary storage" If anyone's wondering :) B = A XOR B A = A XOR B B = A XOR B
