This is big: House Republicans tucked language into the budget res “rule” that bans the House from voting to terminate Trump’s emergency declaration used to impose tariffs. TL;DR lawmakers who vote for this are officially giving up their power to revoke his tariffs until October.

so we're here now www.huffpost.com/entry/white-...

The Roberts Court for every Trump case: Stop overreacting. The law still exists. Just not in this case. Or the next.

Universal free school meals for children. Free community college tuition. Help with paying for elder care. All met with endless “but how will youuuuu paaayyyyy for it” stories and not ONE TIME did the media ask these racist fuckers how they’re going to pay for their gulags

I scanned dozens of newspapers from around the U.S. & world. On average, international newspapers cover the widespread protests against Trump/Musk and for democracy much more prominently on their covers than those in the U.S. This isn’t due to deadlines, protests were daytime in the U.S. #handsoff

NEW: The Trump Admin has been "covertly" withholding FEMA funds from Democratic states, seemingly as retaliation for sanctuary laws, a judge ruled. Hawaii is missing $6 million for widlfire aid. Oregon is waiting on $129 million for disaster prevention.

THESE MOTHERFUCKERS

We don’t have to let Trump wreck our economy with tariffs—that’s a choice. The Constitution gives trade authority to Congress, not the President. Congress delegated tariff powers to the President and we can take them back. We have the bills (one is mine). We just need enough support to pass them.

"high-profile “free speech” advocates such as Bari Weiss, Jonathan Haidt, David Brooks, David Frum, John McWhorter, and Malcolm Gladwell have either remained silent or championed the arrests."

a fun thing about “fuck strom thurmond is,” you don’t really even need to know why people are saying it, you can just join in and have a nice time

That's right, Cory Booker is thanking his staff who obviously have been prepping for several days and planning/preparing for this moment. They did a great job. No Dr. Seuss books needed, this man went out and PREACHED for a full freaking day and he had the receipts. All thanks to his staff.

But we know Republicans are fine with that, because they let Texans freeze to death in their homes while their senator went to Cancun

Here's how it works: 1. DOGE fires everybody at USIP. 2. A DOGE guy from GSA gets installed USIP's acting president. 3. That guy agrees to transfer USIP's $500 million headquarters back to GSA—for free. www.wired.com/story/doge-t...

📣"The entire Trump era could have been avoided if the US took white collar crime anywhere near as seriously as it does low level drug crime" 📣 📣THE ENTIRE TRUMP ERA COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF THE US TOOK WHITE COLLAR CRIME ANYWHERE NEAR AS SERIOUSLY AS IT DOES LOW LEVEL DRUG CRIME 📣

Worth sharing with alt text. Brian Eno's response to the Quaker arrests.

These people are such liars. If Rumeysa Ozturk "committed crimes," how come they haven't charged her with anything?

"The 'radical flank effect' shows that when radical activists push boundaries, they often make moderate voices in the same movement appear more reasonable. Recent research found that even when JSO provoked public anger, support for moderate organisations such as Friends of the Earth increased."

Just thinking about how federal workers no longer have a no strike pledge

- Rumeysa Öztürk has never been charged with a crime. - Mahmoud Khalil has never been charged with a crime. - Momodou Taal has never been charged with a crime. - Badar Khan Suri has never been charged with a crime.

Legal action to stop the bribe is a good start. Arresting the man who made the bribe and committed a clear felony is the next step that needs to be taken

Seriously: arrest him. The governor should have state police arrest him and charge him with election fraud. Then immediately hold a press conference explaining you arrested someone for committing election fraud and will continue to do so. Just fucking arrest him already. You can actually do this

A really cool new study on the impact of climate activism has just dropped! Some highlights: 1) "There is strong evidence that climate activism shifts public opinion and media coverage in a pro-climate direction, but this varies by context and the tactics employed."

What people in every part of higher education need to understand is that Republicans now want to do to universities what they’ve tried to do to labor unions: erase them from the institutional landscape. The question is how much you want to collaborate in your own destruction.

An international graduate student at Tufts University was taken into federal custody on Tuesday outside an off-campus apartment building, the university’s president said. The university was told that the student’s visa had been terminated. nyti.ms/4hRzPq1

I want us to study the history of resistance to slave catchers right now. I want us to study how slave catchers worked, how they were sanctioned, who paid them, and why they did what they did, right now. I want us to study the hyperlocal and networked ways slave catchers were impeded. Right now.

(Getting hacked to death) Me (smugly): This is blatantly illegal and will get overturned in the courts

So you lied under oath. No big deal. That's why pencils have erasers, right?

Biden's crash in support after the Afghanistan withdrawal (one of the braver things a president has ever done) came from the media's understanding of the story. And then a massive GOP pile-on. We have the first part.

The more coverage a story gets, the more important readers think it is. So it matters when the NYT inflates flimsy Dem ‘scandals’ while downplaying real, criminal ones from Trump and Republicans. It’s not just bad judgment — it shapes public perception.

This continues to be the biggest story in the country: DOGE has already squandered half a trillion dollars in 6 weeks. Not billion. half a trillion, $500 billion talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/irs-p...

Every single Democrat in Congress should be demanding the resignation of Waltz and Hegseth. Every single one. This is a massive scandal. There should be a serious price to pay. AND THERE IS ZERO DOWNSIDE FOR EVEN THE MOST SCAREDY-CAT CONGRESSPERSON.

Hamdan Ballal, Academy Award winning co-director of No Other Land, has reportedly been kidnapped and imprisoned by the IDF

I think schools should teach the difference between peer pressure and state violence

My god. I wish I’d had her presence of mind at her age. Entire letter (extremely well-written) attached.

I know @thrasherxy.bsky.social is on the right side of history, in these upside-down times. I know his commitments and values are unwavering, even as Northwestern has tried to undermine him professionally in every way.

Chart of cumulative protests reported from Jan 22 - Feb 28, 2017 vs 2025:

If you are visiting the United States, having a negative view of Trump is enough to get you denied entry. If this was coming out of Russia or China, we would deplore such an authoritarian attack on freedom of expression.

I really wish the press were better at conveying this. There is not some heated debate among actual economists about whether broad tariffs are good for growth. They aren't. This is "Scientists say gravity is real, while a guy Trump met at a bar says maybe it's a giant subterranean vacuum cleaner."

"I don't care what the judges think" should be grounds for impeachment for any public official, but especially for key actors in the national security system.
