this is a disaster. and what's worse is so many people saw it coming but it still wasn't enough.

agreed. i'm giving the credit for the arkansas win to the former cats more than to cal.

i cannot for the life of me figure out how jax and amari weren't the entire second half offense

but leaving him off the roster despite his (albeit short term) consistency against other top bigs feels like they just aren't paying attention. i'm honestly surprised jaime made it.

11-12 season started with the core group for all the non conference games. the more they won, the bigger the crowds got. the night we won the title, 250 were packed into this tiny dive bar, 99% kentucky fans, standing room only shoulder to shoulder. insanity. whole bar broke out in "my old ky home"

i actually looked for an alumni club when i moved here but it didn't seem active. i was living in san fran in 2011-2012 and the alumni club there was so deeply entrenched they'd basically taken over a bar. they'd gone for every game (mbb, fb, and the televised wbb games) since the 90s.

that's awesome! i was born in lex, raised in louisville, and i've been here in ftl for 6+ years now! being a kentucky/heat fan might be the best fan combo. i love that jaime was the leading scorer in the ucla kentucky game his senior year. so many connections!

my high school choir sang for bush jr's first inauguration in '01 - like during the ceremony - and we couldn't even get rooms in dc city limits. iirc we stayed near arlington.

this kentucky team will probably drop another couple games but every game they play seems to have a tournament atmosphere so i truly believe they'll be a VERY tough out in march. february 1st can't come soon enough. cal was prescient talking about his group here. can they finally gel into a team??

all in all, i thought the cats had great effort today. played really good defense most of the game but there were a lot of whistles that negated that defense. missed some shots they should've made and took some shots they shouldn't have. still struggling with giving up offensive boards, that's bad.

just using an obvious example from today, andrew carr picked up his 4th foul on a nickel and dimer baseline bump. i counted 25 uncalled bumps after that (on both teams) before i stopped counting. it's either a foul or it's not. sec officiating has been very, very bad this year. they must improve.

the other thing i'd like to touch on - there is no longer any way to know what will or will not be called a foul or a turnover. more than once against the cats this year, a player from the other team has slid across the floor with possession of the ball. that would have been a travel 2 years ago.
