We need public spaces that don’t felt like rooms but take into account natures position to the space and incorporate trees and shade structures to make the space less hostile. You photo shows what happens when people react to nature

Enclosed is build porches and other covered outside spaces with walls and screens as opposed to adding just walls and pergola thus structures to open the space for use but provide shade.

There is a difference between enclosed and shaded.

Ok so let’s talk tariffs. Aventon is raising prices $300 on all new models because of Chinese tariffs. All e-bikes are made overseas and will pay tariff tax to enter country. At best these will offset the tariff price increase.

That is what could save e-bike market especially in urban areas. Bike Co need to back Bike as Transport and bake infrastructure expansion but don’t expect Fed leadership.

I have been only open 11 months 90 miles from DC. Real good fall but since Nov it’s gone silent. Bike prices go up $300 next week. My DC clients are 1:10 feds. That’s chilling those buyers, other sitting back waiting. Stress buy now from inventory to save as much as $700 off new model.

Kansas City with Big12 and NCAA is another good Midwest host city

Second point was Bike mfg co are going global and need economies of scale to be profitable to build a global product. Spinning off production to build a US mkt only model isn’t profitable and cost per unit in US to high for rest of world.

San Antonio and Indy have strong Convention teams, history of big events, and solid hotel and events downtown.

Saw good article on bike tariffs. We stopped build bikes 40+ years ago. All moved closer to the resources and labor in Asia. Article said that lack of tech, tools, and skills in US make ROI of moving on shore negative vs tariff. Cheaper to absorb it into costs and raise prices.

I hear shared vehicles think cabs, Ubers, waymo as on demand vs fixed route
comment in response to post
Add buses and trains. Those are vehicles

Why factories will not return to US. The ROI on a capital manufacturing investment is no where near the payback of dividends or stock buybacks. Those choices will have higher returns than building a factory. Products in use would cost more than if made in US

I do think the one benefit could be that the cost of car ownership becomes too high and e-bikes grow as a car alternative. Good if you live in an urban area. I am a small town

That is all out the window. All e-bikes are made outside the US. New tariffs can add as much as $1009 to the cost of a bike - more for the high end. Just set e-bike adoption back years.
comment in response to post
If these stand I will be forced to close my store that sells e-bikes, kayaks, and dog stuff. Most made outside US. It’s all discretionary and who wants to spend hard earned money on what I sell - dogs will suffer. Only hope is an e-bike is cheaper to own than a car.
comment in response to post
I sell e-bikes. Manufacturing of any bike left the US in 70’s/80’s. Any bike is going to see a cost increase.

china smells US weakness. That encirclement of Taiwan was just a precursor of what is next, especially after tried to screw their economy.

My ideal customer :) Thank you

My one hope is tariffs make car ownership too expensive and people switch to e-bikes like you did to replace their cars.
