Let’s look back at some hurricane forecasting history for Accuweather. Joel Myers blamed the Weather Bureau for the 1900 Galveston hurricane when prediction didn’t exist. They advised both Houston & Galveston to evacuate prior to the 1988 Gilbert hurricane, which hit south of TX, not trusting NWS.

If we don’t track it then it didn’t happen. Let’s all hide from factual and useful information - seems to be a theme.

This is the start of the agency’s downfall. No hiring, which will be a mess when/if it resumes. Burn out by existing staff adding to people leaving or retiring. Lack of funds to keep facilities functioning. And the dagger - RIFs that force privatization of all functions. It’s in the P2025 plan.

Guess I was incorrect. GDP actually went negative in Q1 and should have said a 2.7% drop, mostly after Trump took over.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have a signed replica of this EO framed and hanging in your bathroom? Wait, I can actually buy that?!

I’m glad you are looking into this as Trump is manipulating the market before our 👀 . But, it’s going to take more than a letter. How about getting a majority of Congress to agree toward impeachment? It’s your only tool to remove him or else we get 45 months of additional cheating and chaos.

Apps like Windy only use automated computer models, while the NWS have meteorologists deciding whether the forecast can be improved.

Bureaucracy. It took two years to get approval to use Twitter. Agency survival is more important now than changing platforms unfortunately.
