¡Qué tiempos! Si no fueran dramáticos serían divertidos

De momento ha ganado la narrativa "scaling is not the answer".

I'll present this tomorrow at the #CS2Italy conference in Trento. Let’s discuss how these approaches can transform education, research, and policy! Full working paper here:

We also discuss how combining gamified experiments with Approximate Bayesian Computation can refine agent-based models and deepen insights into humans controlling complex systems. (4/n)

In our study, we adapt the Schelling Model into a board game, using player strategies to analyze how micro-decisions drive macro-patterns like segregation. The results validate gamification as a tool for participatory research and grounded new models generation (3/n)

Simple socio-physical models like Schelling’s are powerful but often feel detached from everyday experience. Gamification offers a way to connect these models with human intuition, fostering both understanding and engagement. (2/n)

I would imagine both have been cooking for some time.
I think the Mastodon governance change (which is great!) was probably driven by losing non-profit status; and general org maturity (split OSS project from instance operations) and need for non-BDFL governance (see also wordpress)

Labels in the misinformation databases have to be revised, "mainstream" media are now sources of very biased information most of the time
