Every disability accommodation has knock-on benefits for everybody--when I had 2 toddlers, sidewalk cut-outs were a godsend. Similarly, using alt text allows one to post obscure references or jokes + put explainers behind the alt label, to avoid the 10 million "huh?" or "what's this from" replies
