People need to start asking people like Vance on camera the same questions people asked (and the Bush admin answered!) about Iraq:
— Has military planning begun?
— How long do you estimate an invasion/occupation will last?
— How many troops will be needed?
— What is your counterinsurgency strategy?

What I don’t understand is, where does our money go? Taking a wild guess that they don’t give it back to us. Does it just go into the crypto strategic reserve or wtf?

Honestly it's time to stop arguing with a brick wall and start building something. We're at the "or die trying" point here.

The project laid out before us is for our children, and it does not include this political party as currently constituted.

I watched Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat last night. One takeaway is that Americans — even if we have never voted for a Republican in our lives — are all implicated in morally, historically repellent choices. So I think remembering that is how I’m going to find a way to give people grace.

Forgot to add the (complementary). I mean, you’re not the one doing it! Really great insights, thank you.

Little known Senate procedure… you don’t have to be in the majority to answer the question, guy.

I had one 20 minute conversation about some annoying language policing 7 years ago and have felt zero need to bring it up again since. Cannot imagine having so little else to think about.

You know what? Just tell us you have already figured out what you’re going to say when egg prices are normal again. Assure us that you’ve thought that far ahead.

When every election is a TV game show, we lose the opportunity to evaluate these choices and influence them. Trade associations do not. Our attention to these systems, and the expedient choices our politicians make about them, has to be a part of the solution.

If a state unemployment insurance system sucks, it’s because a governor or state legislature made a choice. They underfunded modernizations to fund other priorities. Business tax cuts. Etc. In other cases, they choose to encumber programs that they can’t get rid of. Also through underinvestment. 2/

By brother accidentally told my 4 year old that they’re “bad guy cars” (recent trip to LA where suddenly she saw them everywhere). Now she’s OBSESSED imagining and asking questions about the specific villainy that they’re on their way to effectuate.

This certainly isn’t the guy who spread disinformation during a massive tragedy while his employees risked their lives bringing real news and images to people, right? Couldn’t be. I must be thinking of someone else.

Before I got sober, I couldn’t get through A Brief History of Seven Killings. Just wasn’t clear-headed enough often enough. So when I finally decided I needed a change, one of the things that got me through it was the goal of reading it. I did. And it was worth it. And I’m so grateful.
