I ruined the Proud Boys’ press conference 😂

Walking around Tokyo while listening to Pink Pony Club and feeling unreasonable levels of joy, despite carrying 10 books and sweating accordingly, makes me realize that living in Texas has made my own personal Pink Pony Club not The Abbey but "Being Able To Walk To The Store"

The five food groups

These are the same losers that drive giant shiny pickup trucks. They love to brutalize others because it makes them feel big and strong, but they're also whimpy cowards. They want to cosplay war without any of the risk.

“The levels of... police recorded crime are much more influenced by deep structural features of our society.” @premthakker.bsky.social speaks with civil rights lawyer @equalityalec.bsky.social on how public safety reporting focuses on legal policies rather than societal issues such as poverty.

Excited to read this.

They should invent a political party that's against fascism.

Reading @eikeexner.com's excellent "Comics and the Origins of Manga: A Revisionist History" for a paper I'm writing, and came across these great thoughts (Exner, 178-179)

As you can judge a culture's degree of civilization by its prisons, so can you judge it by its transportation.

Based Bill Burr giving the most based take

As I've said before, what we're dealing with fundamentally here, and have been dealing with for some time, is evil. Our political norms and political media prohibit talking about a mainstream political faction this way. But it is the truth. It needs to be known and it needs to be said.

THREAD. This is so cool. I just got the first copy of the FREE paperback edition of the Copaganda book. It's beautiful! We have free copies for any people in prison (easiest for prison book programs to get in bulk) and for ANY teacher who wants to have the book for their students.

The logical next step in pretending police are the answer to societal problems. Now instead of getting chemo, cancer patients will get a SWAT team yelling "Sir, SIR, go into remission NOW" at their cancer before getting shot because the cancer resisted.

Comics and the Origins of Manga currently 50% off and with free U.S. shipping from Rutgers University Press with discount code RSUMMER50. Also applies to all other RUP books, of course. www.rutgersuniversitypress.org/comics-and-t...

I see soooooooo many great writers putting so much of their time, effort, skill and money squarely in the lap of a really evil and untrustworthy company. Morality questions aside: is it worth planting seeds in THIS soil, in this moment? Does it seem likely to pay off? So many alternatives!

Lots of people mocking this but that's only because they don't have the #businessmindset to buy the government and use everyone else's money to build and scatter across the environment an infinite number of giant rockets themselves.

Excited about this. The history of Muybridge's chronophotography and related animation technologies are the foundation of all motion image technology today and an essential part of the origins of comics. My new book also features an image of Muybr.'s motion photos reproduced in Japan in the 1890s.

Maybe the ascendancy of the far right has more to do with the ultra rich being in control of most of the information most people consume and with everyone being actively indoctrinated with nationalism and passively with sexism and racism from an early age on than with anyone being too mean to men?
