When the US began to strip trans people of rights, revert documentation, move trans women to men's prisons, censor research, and move towards healthcare bans, most cis people posted things like "the government can't tell you who you are!" They think our biggest issue is validation, not actual harm.

For more than a week, conservative media and politicians have worked themselves into a frenzy over a spectacle manufactured by a fencer who refused to compete against a 19-year-old trans woman. Here is the target of that hate campaign, finally, in her own words.

A reminder that one of the biggest reasons Musk and the far right are so focused on trans people is because they literally believe we are a conspiracy to lower white birth rates.

no lies detected. #civilrights

World Pride, which is being held in DC this year, has just issued a travel advisory warning international trans visitors to avoid coming. www.nbcnews.com/video/worldp...

It’s surreal how fast the United States has fallen into a dictatorial regime. Checks and balances are gone, the president disappears innocent people into foreign prison camps, words get banned, and the Overton window shifts at light speed. I honestly wonder these days when they will come for me.

Democrats are calling for an investigation into Marjorie Taylor Greene's purchase of stocks during the recent market dip following President Donald Trump's announcement of sweeping global tariffs on April 2.

This is dystopian. And that word is starting to lose a lot of meaning. "Handmaidstale-esque" it's getting dark.

HUGE WIN: A federal judge just issued a lengthy TRO prohibiting the Trump administration from freezing federal funds to Maine over their policies protecting transgender youth. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The @ncdemocrats.bsky.social will be looking to ensure all these folks get their votes counted and the GOP doesn't steal this state supreme court seat. Sign up here to help.

“The purpose of this letter is to add fuel to the fire in states that are already seeking to ban care for transgender people, put politicians between parents and their kids, between doctors and their patients,” Kellan Baker of Whitman-Walker told me. www.advocate.com/politics/tru...

This is so spot on

This is North Carolina GOP trying to change election rules and results after all votes are counted twice. If this goes through, it will set such a dangerous precedent that no election results will be immune from tampering by politicized court decisions.

Is the guy to her left (on the right) cosplaying as Trump?

What I'd like to know is how do we get something like this going in the US? We need to start removing the roadblocks in legislature put up by faith institutions, and not just in marriage.

Hope this helps.

consuming only negative media and caffeine and wondering why i’m not sleeping, truly a mystery

1. The Trump administration is about to release it's own anti-science "Cass Review," a sham review with pseudoscience that will be used to justify sweeping crackdowns on trans care in the United States. No experts are involved in its drafting. Subscribe to support my journalism.

The Massachusetts House has taken a major step towards banning trans athletes in sports. It would be the first blue state to do so. The amendment has been inserted into the state budget bill. This is a five alarm fire for trans people in Massachusetts. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/04/09/m...

The UK is certainly looking to ban gender affirming care for trans adults as well. Seems like they'll ban private care and then force everyone into an NHS system that has 10+ year waiting lists and will only do endless gatekeeping and never prescribe hormones.

BREAKING: The House of Representatives just passed the SAVE Act, a bill that would make it much harder for millions of people to register to vote. We're calling on the Senate to reject this legislation.

NEWS: The House narrowly voted to approve the GOP budget blueprint by a vote of 216-214, which aims to make massive cuts to Medicaid and give massive tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans.

The verbiage is really important here, "using power beyond what congress has given them." If that we're the case, why are you passing a bill to change it? It seems like they're acting fully within their scope of powers given and you don't like it. www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

If this were a Democratic president, Republicans in Congress would be screaming—market manipulation!

This is by far the most insane way to frame this NBC. You are calling this a rally when it's normalized from where it was after he raised tariffs. Then on whim canceled them and things went back to normal. That's not a "rally" www.cnbc.com/2025/04/08/s...

This story gets so much worse. The trans woman who she refused to fence only finished in 24th place. Stephanie, the forfeiter, also beat *multiple* cis men in a regional match just one week earlier! And conservatives just paid her $5k for her kneel. Why is nobody talking about this?

"I love the way you're changing the subject" -- Elizabeth Warren owns MAGA Joe Kernen on CNBC

Think about how much of an entitled prick you’d have to be to think calling other human beings “peasants” when you’re the Vice President is an ok thing to do. The world’s worst diplomat strikes again. Also: we don’t borrow money from them. That is nonsense.

I can't get a read on you, this is explicitly factual reporting. You quote one family at the end mentioning the harm it will cause. Look at Ohio, look at Tennessee. These programs support the wealthy who can already afford to send thier kids to private school. The argument is usage from parents

The economic collapse will destroy the social safety net. States cannot deficit spend by law. As revenues nosedive, they'll be forced to cut back on education, healthcare, and vital programs. They'll also be more dependent on federal funding giving Trump more leverage.

This dude never stops crying about victimhood.

I get the stock market is bad but the equivalent has already happened to foreign aid, research funding, and public health. Everyone didn't freak out because there isn't some ticker on the news measuring the number of cancer researchers and Ebola prevention experts being fired.
