When the US began to strip trans people of rights, revert documentation, move trans women to men's prisons, censor research, and move towards healthcare bans, most cis people posted things like "the government can't tell you who you are!"
They think our biggest issue is validation, not actual harm.

I hope you are well and may god protect you and your family ❤️🙏

know how many times just talking about needing bottom surgery sparked accusations of “hating filthy penis sex” both on here and on fucking twitter? a lot! and it wasn’t cis allies who did that shit.
GENDER DYSPHORIA as a medical archetype foisted upon us without our consent as yet another model of bodily autonomy gatekeeping...
THAT is the problem.
people blame the language for the gatekeeping rather than seeing the language as a part of the oppression itself. pick different terms and you’d still have the same gatekeeping and medicalization.
Which is very cool :) We should absolutely be de-emphasizing discussions of transition care when it's being banned :)
let's talk about it in the car while we smuggle drugs from Canada babe!
this has been constant ever since coming out.
I feel like we shouldn't have said "We're valid" because people took that as "We just want to be valid" instead of "We don't want to be murdered."
“Level of fat in blood vessel reassignment surgery”
“Blood circulation mechanism reassignment surgery”
What about that particular wording is patronizing?
While mental health and concepts like gender are very real, in many places around the world, these abstract concepts become 'not physically real' and therefor only kinda real.
It changes our needs from a physical one into an imaginary mental one which we get hysterical and over reactive too.

I dont think that one's ever going to bother me bc I'm never going to accept cis ppls' ideas about my physical sex.
My sex & my gender are *mine*. I'm trans because of birth assignment.
Otherwise we’re relegated to understanding trans women and trans men who haven’t been able to access transition care as male and female respectively which seems wrong (and too similar to the way cis people see it, tbh).
So we shouldn’t assume that older language is eo ipso more egalitarian.
Like people insist these things about our sex being critical and centralizing, when in reality, people readily make assumptions based on presenting gender until they're upset.
i remember only a decade or two ago, it was common for people to invoke reproduction (and a teleology of evolution) as a 'scientific' justification for homophobia
It was so jarring and dehumanizing. I didn't really get it at the time because I was still very eggy, but it was so obvious and hurtful.
though this language was more common in describing female subjects, male subjects were often ungendered if they weren't compared to female subjects
It's infuriating.
Even when describing the danger to trans lives, it's always in terms of suicides. They think we're hysterical.
actually sharon the violence against trans people is coming from outside the house but please tell me more about how you’re an #ally
I think I’m going to really enjoy reading it.
2. there is scientific literature about this exact topic
3. trans children don’t medically transition until they’re like 15 (usually they start puberty blockers at 13 or so and can only do so for a couple of years)
don’t form opinions from nothing
Because it is clearly not based on the lived experiences of queer adults.
The issues that we have is that parents are constantly pushing their OWN agendas on to children and thinking that's normal. How many times even now do I have a friend say "Oh is that your boyfriend/girlfriend" when they .
Attitudes like yours harm and kill trans kids.
Your "opinion" is meaningless weighted against the lived experience of every queer person I've ever met, many of whom knew at a younger age than I did
Trans people, likewise, know who they are far better than you do
Trans healthcare is not considered necessary, not regarded as part of a politics of bodily autonomy.

Like, there was, at best, an argument for the term to maybe become a means to access healthcare, and it's clearly outlived that.
The fixation is infuriating since by its nature dysphoria is a lying bastard no one can pin down and is horribly subjective.
In a sea of terms made up to explain transness to cis people as a condition; the "wrong body", "transsexualism", "dysphoria", "incongruence", we have lost the plot.
I deserve final say over my routines and body because they are mine.
