We have Nazi salutes now because nobody said anything about Confederate flags.

We are now a fascist dictatorship, and people are like whatever, let’s get brunch

COME WORK WITH ME! Are you a local journalist looking to spend a year diving into an accountability project of importance to your community? @propublica.org is accepting our next round of Local Reporting Network proposals. Deadline: April 14 *Applying will be more fun than doing your taxes.

Playlist suggestions for @indivisible-oregon.bsky.social protest? So far I have Nkosi Siklele’iAfrica and It’s Okay to Punch Nazis. And some Mexican rap.

Garcia: The fact that the Trump DOJ now wants to silence members of Congress because we’re actually willing to take on Elon Musk is quite dangerous. It’s incredibly disturbing. But we’re not going to be silenced. We’ve got to push back.

He thinks a couple of meaningless votes against Trump nominees can salvage his legacy.

📬🚨 HUGE NEWS 📬🚨 Trump plans to fire the USPS governing board, merge the Postal Service into the Commerce Department. It would disrupt 55 years of non-political mail service, and threatens to upend trillions of dollars of ecommerce and the 250 year-old US mail system.

How is it that the most visible legitimate resistance in this country is @chriswarcraft.bsky.social @altnps.bsky.social . Are all our elected officials trying lining up to be in a Vichy puppet parliament

I appreciate everyone’s messages of support, I’m trying to get through all my mentions but as you can imagine, it’s been a bit of a busy day :) Remember - peaceful civil disobedience, and no kings, no tyrants. Not ever.

It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

@vox.com, @opb.bsky.social and @npr.org doing an outstanding job minimizing and obfuscating a white supremacist coup on Today Explained. Nice little intellectual musings about radical destruction of the constitution happening right now. Keep it classy. It won’t save your funding.

@washingtonpost.com this just pushed me over the edge. Bye. I hope the journalists that have integrity find jobs and the rest of you I hope the ghost of Catherine Graham gnaws off your faces in your sleep www.cnn.com/2025/02/17/m...

Paused my despair over the end of the world to watch Desperately Seeking Susan. Never saw it before and wow that 80s vibe is intense. And it’s not Madonna. It’s everything else, the pastel and punks, and Duran Duran hair.

Exactly how it went down

Speak no longer of “the vulnerable” or “the most vulnerable.” Such terms are for more predictable threat. Now we look to shifting vulnerability frontlines as fascism attacks countless & sometimes targets. (Who thought USDA scientists were in trouble?)

This covers multiple aspects of the dystopian fascist f/k storm that is our government (USAID, DOJ corruption, First Amendment Violations, the VPOTUS just talking…)

So basically the VP of the US said that he found a young girl with no power except moral suasion so annoying that our allies have to bow down to a man who is buying whole governments, owns a massive propaganda machine, and hates democracy. Nice

Are federal marshals the SS now?

Shocking, I tell you!

Elon Musk spent over $280 million to elect Trump and his GOP allies. Now Musk is collecting on that investment—grabbing control of the system that gets your grandpa his Social Security check, pays your mom’s doctor through Medicare, and keeps your kid’s Head Start center open.

@wyden.senate.gov takes a stand. Let’s see more of this. Get a TRO and bring in federal marshals to drag the unvetted walking malware out.

There’s been academic studies on this and what will probably happen is cursory coverage until there’s an incident of violence which can be used to paint the protesters as a threat at which point there will be wall to wall coverage with “they’ve gone too far” intonations throughout.

F/king finally

@wyden.senate.gov you too

This is a private person taking the reins of the U.S. government. It's really that simple.

I’ve moved to calling my reps offices and demanding to meet with a staff member

Sydney Kamlager-Dove: "It's total corruption... to try to take control of our govt, to have access to our social security numbers, our medical benefits, all of the information we use when we're trying to get a motherfuckin' tax return. And you're gonna take our money? Homie don't play that."

“Political malpractice”

And we’re all sitting at home ordering Amazon …?

Elon Musk is not a Federal employee or a political appointee. DOGE is not a real department. None of their activities are legal. This is a coup. The Republicans in Congress are willing participants in it. At what point do Democrats in DC get that and start acting like it? It’s not the price of eggs!

If these guys were being highlighted by the left, they’d have been SwATTED by now. I’m not saying that’s legit, but it’s a hell of a lot more effective than giving lukewarm interviews about “controversial policies” instead of saying “ITS A M-FKING COUP”

Camping outside your own D senators offices to hold them accountable is legit

There is no one more determined to put the boot of fascism on their own throat than the American Press. And thus, no one more deserving of it.

Allegedly calling one’s congressional delegation might make them take a stand against the white supremacist coup. So I called @wyden.senate.gov and Jeff Merkley and by the time I got to @repdexteror.bsky.social I was literally in tears.

It blows my mind that this account is the only resistance to an aggressive active fascist coup

@npr.org and @ayesharascoe.bsky.social talking about Trumps “proposed downsizing of the federal workforce” and how it will “affect black civil servants” as though there hasn’t ALREADY been a white supremacist coup that is actually designed to eliminate black civil servants.

Excellent piece. Modern autocrats arrive at power via elections, and then gradually erode democracy until only a facade remains. Coups provoke mass opposition and mobilization: salami tactics don’t.

The Democratic “plan” is to “not get distracted” as Trump seizes Treasury, purges the FBI and the military, and completely defies all laws limiting himself, and then win back the House in 2026 by talking about inflation. It’s an awful plan.

He did this in his first term too.
