Access to the Qantas Chairman’s lounge is clearly skewing senior public servants travel choices. Concerning that DFAT doesn’t want scrutiny of their travel. We have to ensure govt procurement works better. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/8930637/

Income tax policy is the only thing our cowardly politicians ever touch in our tax system because they are just delaying or displacing bracket creep so it ultimately doesn't really matter. Rewarding this shite incentivises them to keep doing it, and disincentivises adult conversations about revenue.

ACF: “The Albanese government has fumbled reforms to our broken nature laws for 3 years. Now, with an election looming, the PM has hurried a bill into parliament that means nature has less protection that it did when he came to office.” www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The Senate is now back debating legislation to utterly gut the environmental laws. A shameful act that will hang like a rotting carcass for all time around all members and Senators of the ALP who voted in favour of it. Utterly pathetic. A party stinking of salmon sh*t

The head of the NACC still holds senior roles in the Army Reserves, and is “self-managing” the many defence-related conflict of interest issues. Read the room, m8.

Yet more questions for NACC Commissioner Brereton to answer after recusing himself from 6 investigations. I'd like to know if he's recused himself from deliberations or just decision making. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03...

Protecting our independence. This is how we must react to Trump's bullying. Here’s a clue, it’s not by begging a favour, or doubling down on failure, it’s about believing in ourselves and our region.‬⁩ michaelwest.com.au/protecting-o...

The founder of Climate 200, one of the most significant movements in Australian politics for a generation, Simon Holmes a Court, will be speaking tomorrow at the National Press Club in Canberra. Simon is an erudite and fascinating speaker so if you can, tune in or get along to the NPC for this one.

No one. NO ONE thinks Australia will ever get any subs. The ALP just agreed to it to prevent being wedged, which was bad policy and bad politics. Because this would have been the easiest policy to slap the Libs with. But… sigh. Dump policies are dumb politics

Seeing a lot this federal election of people trying to scare voters off voting for independents by saying 'but who are they preferencing?' Each individual voter for a candidate decides where their preferences go, not the candidate.

Seems insane to me Labor’s best hatchet job on Dutton is something that happened 15 years ago, when he wasn’t in government. I guess it’s hard to go after his record as home affairs minister if you’ve adopted all of his policies.

2025 and major industries are still getting away with "the ocean will just absorb all our waste, no worries" www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

The change of government in Washington will not herald the scuppering of a ludicrously wasteful project that will cost the Australian taxpayer in the order $400 billion (a modest assessment) for nuclear powered submarines our country does not need … Nor ever will. #AUKUS #auspol

Just think - on this issue Albanese is the one defending insurance companies (and supermarkets and banks and wholesalers and... and..). I can't believe how badly and quickly the govt has ceded all impetus to the opposition. If you don't want to change the country, don't stand as ALP leader.

I genuinely don’t know why Tanya Plibersek even bothers to come in to work in the morning any more. How often has Albanese strayed into her lane by now ? Might as well make himself co-Environment Minister, like Scotty Coalfinger did. www.abc.net.au/news/...

We still have a long way to go in holding the people responsible for the failures of Robodebt, to account - starting with the 57 recommendations by the Royal Commission. It's a public administration catastrophe too damaging to be swept under the rug. #robodebt #auspol

The Albanese Govt has walked away from its nature positive laws, its superannuation changes, taking on big tech, & even the bare minimum of gambling advertising reforms, all to clear the decks ahead of an election where it will try to hold on to power You have to ask what for? To do what? #auspol

Love how the Australian govt’s response to the authoritarian overthrow of constitutional law in the US is, like, “we welcome the new gestapo and share their values. Please pat us on the head.”

If you're wondering who's really running the show...
