the dome in the middle was not there in 1945

Sounds like a typical cross-section of society, in almost every country in the world

The fact that these people are realising they have no spine and soul is a good thing, in any case. There is still time for them to prove they have one. Highly doubtful as it is.

Does this mean Vance has been rethinking his personal cashflow?

This man lost the ability to recognize evil a long time ago.

Wow, some sense. Second time today (Tammy Bruce was the first). Imminent discharge for these two, or a subtle shift within the US government?

Kind question. But the one I have in my comfortable Western home: why has no one compared the Iberean outage to the many though spells without electricity for Ukrainian households?

Ukrainian casualties need to receive the best possible care and prosthetics. The West and Ukraine can provide that. Eternal respect they will have anyway. The russian soldiers.... Unlikely to receive the former. Impossible to receive the latter.

3600k plus of land borders. An 'unbreakable relationship, stronger than ever before'. Widely reported innumerable war crimes. But sure, please claim you have to smuggle the kit. Because otherwise...you know...international trade, rule of law....and stuff

Born to be wild. Unlikely to see 2026.

See them doing the 'polonaise'. An instant assault exercise, I guess. How efficient.

Heartbreaking. These images can make many feel their pain.

First reaction: horrified. At second glance: maybe this will work (to reveal the worst kind of nazi that he is). Might be worth the risk. As long as people stay on high alert.

The fly, U2. The devil assessing the state of the world talking from a phonebooth. "There's a lot of things, If I could, I'd rearrange'. Also Old Note by Lisa O'Neill.

I will follow this story like a hawk. Interesting that a Donetsk native is considered 'Ukrainian'. Forgive this observation, but several people in the West see it as a foregone conclusion to cede Donetsk to the evil empire.

When you're so full of shit, you need someone to blame. We know the spin that JD and gis cronies are going to give to this.

Probably true: in Ukraine, many boys and several girls want to help the war effort. Only three things are changed in this statement. Yet they represent the difference between an emancipated, autonomous country and a terrorist state.

Worst news of the week, maybe two weeks. And that is saying something.

Some of the top journalists here on Bluesky, that is who I learn from. Mike Duncan's 'Revolution' podcast is instructive to learn how russians degraded further from already being cruel and unusual.

Why do they also map attacks in Ukraine, whereas the title reads 'attacks in russia'?

This was a true gift. Among the most clarifying things I read this year. Recognizing unfathomable appeal of totalitarianism seems even applicable to some loved ones (and their friends) in the baby boom generation of my parents.

Jeffrey Sachs published 'his' 2025 World Happiness Report. Few things come closer to that, than seeing a loved one again, you presumed dead. Would be comedy, if it wasn't deeply disturbing to hear this man claim anything on happiness by the way.

All hands on deck to guard online content. The election campaign will see all latest manipulation techniques in action, I fear. But well done Serbia, in any case, to force Vucic's hand like that.

Trump will let Zelensky wait. A neat trick he learned recently.

The surreal thing is that you can be transparant about it, but that millions (yes, even serious journalists) in my lowland country will still credit Trump with a peaceplan. Or you. Don't know which is worse.

The story of Sasha Kuznetsov, posted by Anton Geraschenko, will stay with me for the foreseeable future

Mmmm..... Sounds too good to be true. Would love to see this story corroberated. But for now: great stuff!

A simple question: what does Rubio want Lavrov to do? Like, really? Praise Trump and accede to a cease fire that lasts until Rubio will be fired? (Probably in 9-15 months)

Ouch. These Rutte comments are reaching the 'Vlad and I went through a hell of a lot' level.

I am much more worried about his statements that relations with russia should be normalized after the war. De downfall of putler's regime can be the only objective. Ending sanctions is even worse than temporarily tolerating the russian occupation of Ukraine territory
comment in response to post
Hate to stick up for Mark Rutte, but those two statements are not permanently mutually exclusive. (Trying my luck at politics here). Don't get me wrong: I think there has been a monstrous betrayel of Ukraine by NATO since 2008. Many politicians to blame. For a whole range of major & minor decisions
comment in response to post
Nope, check, that's not it. It just makes sense that if putler can succesfully use the vanity of trump, a bad deal will emerge. A deal that will make Europe (including Ukraine) suffer.
