My husband makes wine, I drink and write about it. Based in the Veneto, in northern Italy. Grow most of my own vegetables. Hope it's sunnier over here.

Wine industry: Young people are stopping drinking because they’re more concerned about their bodies and health living, what are we going to do? Oh. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

If you're into #wine, you might want to read about how the 2024 vintage went down in Italy. It was a year that most winemakers want to abolish from their memory. I just clicked publish on this tale of two halves: emmabentleyvino.com/2025/02/25/t...

Who wants the last frittella? (Fried ball of sweet dough & raisins, very common during Carnevale.)

If previously my answer to "what do drink with BBQ?" was lager, I can now confirm that Amarone works really darn well too!

No wine tonight; just pizza and beer. Tomato, mozzarella, with broccoli and pancetta... and a "bionda media." Life is better with the simple things. #winesky #pizza

New blog: Wine's search for new drinkers: the wine trade is fretting about losing young drinkers, so I held a tasting for my daughter and her twenty-something friends to see if I could convert the next generation. Plus: what I've been drinking this week aviewfrommytable.substack.com/p/wines-sear...

I have the kind of interphone that as soon as someone rings, it picks up what I'm saying in the house. Unfortunately, I happened to be listening - and singing along - to Ceelo's "F*** You" just now. I owe the delivery driver an apology. 🙈 youtu.be/pc0mxOXbWIU?...

Mushroom risotto, radicchio salad and a Swiss pinot noir from Anne-Claire Schott. #mondaynight #naturalwine #winelover #winesky

I had 2 minutes yesterday to step inside one of my favourite shops in Vicenza - a second-hand book-shop - where I found a "recipe, tradition and folklore" book printed in October 1979 in Palermo!

It’s stories, not technical sheets, that offer connections between wine and consumers. My latest in Winemag winemag.co.za/wine/opinion...

I'm still getting into the habit of posting over here, so that's why The Morning After, I'm sharing photos of last night's cocktail night. Pomegranate cosmo and negroni sbagliato. 🍸🥃

this interview - Lynn Barber on Marianne Faithfull - is the sort of brilliant, bonkers thing nobody writes anymore. It reads like a meeting of fabulous monsters www.theguardian.com/film/2001/ju...

🚨 Calling all wine communicators 🚨 Having worked on the inaugural edition of these awards last year, I can heartily endorse them as a way of getting your work recognised. The 2025 entries are now open… www.67pallmall.com/67-awards/

Just ten days left in January... Then it's time to turn the page and let 2025 really get started. 💪

G'morning Bluesky! Which drink do you start your day with : coffee, tea, hot water and lemon, or just juice? Last night I dreamt I had misplaced my Bialetti moka and, looking back, it seems a nightmare!

It's been a big week for me. Pretty much single-handedly pulled off a wine fair in NYC - a place I'd only been to three times in 18 years. Everyone happy... visitors and exhibitors, and even the accountant because the books are balanced! Only now is it starting to sink in and I can relax. :)

Almost a phenomenology of taste.

Good morning NYC! It's 7am here but I've been awake for three hours already. Jet lag is real. 😖

I wrote a mini paen to Moscato for Fine and Rare. www.frw.co.uk/editorial/wh...

Do you know what depresses me about the UK #wine scene? Nice restaurants who push cheap-as-chips wine and peddle falsehoods. e.g. "Old-established family co-op..." Collis is the largest co-op around, making 100 000 000 litres of wine per year.

If you’re not following Tobias yet you definitely should be! The best in the business on the dark heart of Italy.
